Update

We went to the McCarty location as part of my Partner's birthday weekend. They ordered the "12 meatball sub. They really enjoyed it. I believe the bread is made in house and it's pretty good. I ordered the "6 Chicken Parm and it was bad... really bad. It was tough and chewy and burnt on the ends. I know the pizza is pretty good and the meatball seems like it's ok. Maybe it depends on the cook that day. Who knows? I won't order it again. I think the only time I'd visit now would be to pick up something for my Partner.

Ordered 2 12-in chicken parm sandwiches. This place wasn't my first choice but they were the only ones open on a Sunday that I thought might make something decent. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the sandwiches were. I guess I was hungrier than I thought because I didn't take any photos of them. I will next time because it's good enough to order again. The bread had a good flavor and the chicken was crispy without being tough and stringy. If you are into desserts, they have cake by the slice and gelato. Ordered the cannoli and the filling was good but the shell was soggy. They have Mexican Coke too if that's your thing because not everyone has it. In case you're wondering, sandwiches come a la carte unlike other places that include...

There are two Ray’s and they are not the same. It can be confusing sometimes so decided to try both. I did have this Rays spaghetti and meatballs before at their old location on Blanco and enjoyed it. I wanted to compare but I should have looked at the menus first. I picked a sausage dish at the other place and no sausage dish was available here. So I ordered baked ziti. Beef, ricotta, mozzarella and marinara baked. First off the people were very friendly and there was plenty of room for handicapped. They used the aluminum foil pan, which I much prefer for takeout. It keeps food warm much longer and no soaking up sauce onto foam. It’s 20 minutes away in traffic so that is important to me. Got home and finished my included salad and the food didn’t need reheating. However this dish while tasty and satisfying was not spicy. I could have used some oregano or garlic or something. Very good bread is included. However the salad was a 5 star. So wonderful for an included side salad. Just full of cheese, black olives etc. Wonderful blue cheese dressing. I’ll have to come back for a slice or another dish. And looking forward to...

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. I happened to drive into the plaza that houses #RaysPizzeria, and thought I would give it a try. The selection is massive. Instead of trying to figure out what to pick, I went with a decently priced special that sounded delicious. Since I had not eaten since breakfast, and was quite hungry, I also ordered some mozzarella sticks. Here's how it played out. The fresh salad with shredded mozzarella, was great. As I was finishing it, both the entree and the extra side arrived. When I saw the size of the main dish, I asked for a to-go box for the side. The serving for the price is insane! The spaghetti was perfectly cooked. The sauce was excellent and creamy. The grilled chicken and mushrooms were top notch. And I was STUFFED before the plate was cleared. I tried one mozzarella stick during the meal, and the light breading made it much more appealing than many I've had before. To sum up, I highly recommend Ray's Pizzaria and cannot wait to try other dishes on the future. I didn't even touch on their dessert options! But, I will leave that for another...

My favorite pizza place in San Antonio. Whole pies are so delicious and fresh, my personal favorite is pepperoni, italian sausage, jalapenos, and extra cheese. Their Italian sausage is really good (it's sliced, not crumbles, which I like because I'm not a big fan of crumbled italian sausage). The individual slices are huge and a great vaule during their lunch special, but not as tasty as ordering the whole pie, trust me. The house salad with italian dressing is also a must for me. Wings are great here too (always fresh at this location) and so are the prices, I think a double order (20pc) is just under $14. Decent selection of beer, a few games for the kids, large dining room, decent amount of TV's to catch a game, overall awesome restaurant. I've been coming to Ray's for years, even when it used to be called Goombas and have been to other locations including Kitty Hawk which is so much closer to me but the Blanco location is by far the best hands down (better kitchen staff) and worth the extra drive for me.
