Fast food - low quality - high prices
Went here for lunch with a friend and luckily she received a gift card so it was going to cost us nothing to try it.
Pros: Received food quickly Cool "modern" decor Friendly staff
Cons: Pad Thai with Steak (Extra Spicy) came with Tofu and the noodles were soggy/mushy (keeping them heated for hours will do this). Also it had no spice at all and I took what little was left of the chili spread they had (which was almost empty) and dumped it on my Pad Thai in an attempt to make it spicy. 1/5 stars for the Pad Thai Friend ordered Thai Dynamite with Brown Rice. It was delivered with White Rice (but the staff fixed it right away!). This also had no "spice" to it although the menu says "somewhat spicy". Chicken was poorly cut with gristle/fat in the pieces. Snap peas had a strange taste to them so they were avoided on the dish. Brown rice is incredibly bland. 2/5 stars for the Thai Dynamite with chicken We ordered a 4 piece Wasabi Crunch Roll to share. The wasabi is very weak and I wouldn't recommend at all (I was able to take a pinch of the wasabi itself and eat it without any of the "burn"). Rolls themselves were fine but nothing to write home about. 3/5 stars for the Wasabi Crunch Roll
All in all I would say to avoid this place. What they charge for the dishes compared to a legitimate Asian Eatery, I'd say just go to a place that isn't fast food. The quality is really poor and if you've ever had real Thai then you'll know this place falls flat. If you think Ketchup is hot, then you'll probably agree with their "spicy"...
Read moreI absolutely love Pei Wei. PF Changs fast casual sister restaurant. You order at the counter and food is brought to your table. You select a protein (steak, shrimp, chicken, tofu), the type of sauce, and lo mein or rice (fried or steamed white rice). The reason i thought my meal was just okay (which is very unusual... Like this is the first time for me actually) is because it seemed the portion of Mongolian steak I ordered was smaller than usual. (I had the same meal in Sarasota a couple of weeks ago and it's the entree I usually order) and the the rice was overcooked and dry... It had been sitting in the rice cooker for a while. If we weren't in rush, I would have brought it back and asked for a new order of rice. I know it is rice but I used to eat at Pei Wei several times a week for several years when I worked near one of their restaurants and this is the first time I have ever been served old rice and it is a staple for this restaurant. The rest of my meal was good. We had the vegetable spring rolls which were piping hot. It was the first time I had ordered sushi here and I had the Tempura Crunch Roll (mango California roll with crunchy tempura flakes) which was delicious. The other meal we had was the tofu Thai Dynamite on noodles which I was told was good as well. I'm glad they started offering desserts (for a long time they didn't) and i had the Thai Donuts which are 6 bite sized (think strawberry sized) donuts coated in cinnamon and sugar with a sweetened condensed milk dipping sauce. I think we got there ahead of the...
Read moreAnother so-so experience. Food was good but filled out request for eating utensils, sauces and cookies online. The cashier was not busy at all. She put in 1 pair of chopsticks when I ordered 2. Only gave me 2 mustard, 2 sweet chili and 2 sweet chili. I had ordered 4 each. Also only 2 cookies. Can she not read. Love the food or would not consider going back. Where is their management? Hello, we had such a good experience last time we were there, we were hoping for the same great experience but didn’t happen. First the app didn’t work so we could not place the BOGOS special ahead of time. I explained this to Jay who told me there was no special. I pulled the email up on my phone and showed him. Ordered 2 entrees, full sized and 6 wontons. Jay said they were chicken dumplings. I said no, they were crab wontons. Jay said people call them different things including Rangoon. Anyhow he put the Order through for 6. I asked for chopsticks, hot mustard, soy sauce and chili sauce. Jay said “they’re over there”. I went to the condiment stand and could find chopsticks, fortune cookies an soy sauce. He continued to insist the other condiments were there but everything was in silver buckets except for hot mustard which I again asked for. I won’t go into Jays attitude. Our order came up so we left. When we got home, we only received 4 wontons. There are lots of choices out there and several next door as well as...
