I've given this location THREE (3) chances just to prove myself wrong... I really wish I was. This particular team seems to only provide friendly customer service to everyone who looks like them. I've always come during the LEAST busy time and ordered non-complex drinks. Even being the ONLY person in line, 4 people, usually the females, will look at me, roll their eyes, and continue a casual conversation with another team member without ever greeting me. There is always the guy with the (blonde) colored hair who is sitting at the long high table in front of the register who FINALLY gets up to walk behind the counter to take my order but seemingly "bothered" that he has to. However, they all will greet everyone else (who looks like them) promptly and politely; I've witnessed it each time. This last time I ordered a simple iced green tea with agave. After 15 minutes, and no one else on the shop, my name is called. No explanation was given as to why it took so long. This has been my experience each visit I've had. The music at this location is always so terribly loud too. I've been to other Better Buzzes (my new favorite being in Mira Mesa) where the staff is superb and friendly to EVERYONE who walks through their doors. Having worked in both food and hospitality and other service industries, it pains me to see how terrible people have become at providing at least good customer service, especially in a city like San Diego. If you don't subscribe to welcoming and being respectful and kind to ALL the patrons of the business as part of your job, please do us a favor and find...
Read more*Updated review. I downgraded from 2 stars to one. The reason? See the reply from the owner below two weeks ago? I did email them as requested.. And got no reply. It's not about getting a free cup of coffee, it was always about the service. They took one more opportunity and wasted it on another fail. Such a shame.
Original review below. I've been to the Point Loma location several times. The coffee is excellent.
I don't like mine super cold. I asked for light ice once and then tried asking for very light ice and still get over half a cup of ice. On my third visit to this location, I asked for no ice. After paying around $8.50 for my drink I was handed a large cup filled with about five inches of coffee and the rest was empty. The barista told me that was their policy, which equates to be about a 10oz amount they are willing to serve for a large, iced beverage. After I asked for a refund they agreed to add more oat milk but looked away when I thanked them.
Also went in to do about an hours’ worth of work and 2 of the staff were in an online meeting with the volume on high. I really didn't need to hear the companies reporting and issues.
The concept and products are excellent, but execution is lacking. Same at the location in fashion valley. I watched 3 people who ordered after me get their coffee before me, I had a simple latte. When I checked on my beverage the barista told me they had gotten a lot of the orders mixed up.
I'm hoping this is not meant to be the norm. I'd really like to frequent the better buzz locations but at this point I'm very reluctant to...
Read moreNot at all impressed. I don't know if I just had a one-off of not so great coffee but beyond that, the atmosphere is not that great, pricing is about 50% too high for the quality and the staff seems rather aloof. So first off...the coffee. I got the Bold blend and it tasted so watered down I wondered if it was Burger King or McDonalds coffee. I sipped on it for a bit and then finally having to accept the fact that it was just terrible coffee, I chucked it into the garbage on my way into Target about 15 minutes later. $3.50 in the trash can. Oh well. Live and learn. Literally, take the most average coffee you've ever had and cut it in half with water...that's what it tasted like. Price....$3.50 for what was about a 16oz coffee? This is why Panera exists. You want good coffee? Either go down the street to a place called Jennings House Cafe (no, I don't work there...their coffee is legit), Panera or Dunkin Donuts if you must. This Better Buzz place is just completely overpriced. Atmosphere...obnoxiously loud. Staff banging on cookware and just generally not very welcoming and friendly. Forget about trying to have a meeting of any kind there. You'll be yelling across the table at your acquaintance due to the loud music, staff banging the cookware and just the overall loud ambiance of the place. I guess I gave it two stars for whatever reason. Probably deserves one....if even. Owners must be making an absolute killing at...
