Ruined our entire trip with one phone call.
We came to San Diego for my son’s 9th birthday and brought our Emotional Support Animal from Denver so she could enjoy it with us. Yesterday was SeaWorld, and today was supposed to be whale watching on the Legacy. Maybe I was wrong to bring my dog to California; perhaps I should have paid for her to stay at a daycare, but I couldn’t afford to leave her in Colorado, so she came with us.
I didn’t try to take her to SeaWorld, so I left her in our room, giving her calming treats and informing the front desk, housekeeping, and neighboring rooms that she might cry while we were out. I even provided my phone number since we were close by and could return quickly if needed. I tried to make her comfortable before leaving, but it wasn’t enough—being alone hurt her, and she cried a lot while we were gone.
Late last night, the front desk called to tell us that guests had complained about our dog and that a discount had to be given to them because of the noise. The conversation felt like we were being asked to leave, though the person on the phone assured us that wasn’t the case. I explained that today we were supposed to go whale watching and had no other place for her, meaning we’d need to leave her again. The front desk person indicated this would be a problem, which I understood.
I called around town to find someone to watch her and spoke with PetSmart, who said she could stay. But when we got there, it turned out she was missing a required vaccination, so they couldn’t take her. We missed the whale watching and lost the money we spent on it. Now, our trip is ruined; we missed the whale experience, and we have to leave early because our dog has nowhere to stay. My wife and son are heartbroken that we won’t get to see the show. About to speak with the managers now will update after I speak with them about all of this.
After Review**
The lady manager understood my issue and how unfortunate our dilemma was. Unfortunately the miscommunication between me and her husband and the person who called the room were identical he said that I should “not have left a service animal at the room alone” he spoke to the woman at the front desk after I explained to her that I wasnt comfortable speaking with him because his demeanor resembled the man who called and caused the confusion. He said that loud enough for me to clearly hear him. To which I called sea world San Diego to confirm if I was able to bring our emotional support animal into sea world, and as I was told earlier before we booked only service animals are allowed at the park. The woman manager spoke to me afterwards and apologized and gave me and my family three free waters and some Oreo cookies for my son for our day at the zoo. She was amazing and truly appreciate her passion to resolve the issue and even appreciate the lady at the front desk as well. Overall I love the experience however the disconnect between the staff could be improved upon and u can do the same with getting my dog trained to be able to deal with my travels.

Ruined my trip then refunded me then took the money again. I’m on my way to my grandmothers funeral in Ohio and discovered my account balance is overdrafted because of Ramada San Diego. Now I may not be able to fly because I can’t afford my checked bag which will now be more because I didn’t do it in advance. Ramada has really destroyed my annual leave from work my vacation and all kinds of things I am well beyond disappointment. $677 after check out and I booked with Expedia is outrageous all together I have now paid $1400 for a stay in which I left early and it’s 4 am so I have nobody that I can even talk to. After all of this what can even be done to fix this🤦♂️😢 Rip Grandma Lenzy
My bank account is overdrafted by $675 and this hotel won’t refund me. I will never ever visit this place again. Almost a month later and things still...
Read more3 star property, 5 star staff. The surrounding area isn't the safest. Just know the San Diego area as a whole has an issue with people without housing. We were going to be fishing late at night with high tide starting at 10 pm and needed a place to rest our heads after we got done. Beds are above average. There were firm and soft pillows. The blankets are a sheet, fleece blanket, and sheet, which is a motel hospitality standard. You can sometimes hear people talking down the hallway at night, so play music and you'll be cherry. A/C worked great. You don't understand how valuable that is during the summer at any property. I got a great night's sleep and rate the sleep experience a solid 8/10.
Briana at the front desk is a gem. They're so fortunate to have a day shift individual who makes it her job to make your check-in and check-out an experience in itself. She helped with a feminine issue and scoured the office for playing cards. Please add playing cards to your shop. Leo was great as well. He helped my family a ton during his shift and just want to really thank him. You can see they pride themselves in their property with how the staff is. You don't always have hundreds of thousands to invest in renovation, but you can see they do their best.
We enjoyed almost all of the amenities. The pool was decently sized and the pictures online make it look smaller than it is. Up to 5 ft and we had a blast. We had dinner in the pool area for a party of 11. There is a small continental breakfast with waffles in the morning. Used the wake up call service. 5 rooms out of 5 clean. Not sure what people are expecting when they stay here, but I can say they were clean as someone who used to run hotels for a living. Overall, I'm leaving super happy.
Take it from a previous hotel GM and hospitality AVP, you judge a room by the price in the context of the surrounding properties and their price. I paid $120 + tax, while others paid $180 - $270 to stay here. The Marriott was $300+. I needed a place to sleep after a long night fishing. This isn't a hotel in nowhere USA that would be charging $60 a night and so you get upset you paid $200. This is a tourist area that you should expect to pay a decent rate no matter the season due to it's location to landmarks and POI. We could see the fishing landing from the entrance of the hotel! It isn't a Ritz, but it isn't a Motel 6 either. This place is a perfect place to stay for a night when traveling through. Probably wouldn't stay here for more than that, but I wouldn't be against it either. Staff totally makes...
Read moreOne of the best things I found was that Check-Out was at 12pm! Fantastic! Who wants to get up rushing in the morning because your being pushed out at 10am or 11am. Big plus for me! The room was very comfortable. Now the negatives: The front desk convinced me to say by saying, "we have full breakfast in the morning & not like others that have a continental breakfast". I wasn't sure of the difference but decided to say. In the morning, I was looking forward to something different then others. I was very disappointed to say the least. A tray with eggs in it were in a little frig, yogurt cups in that frig, coffee, bread with a toaster, juice, small circular bagged rolls you'll find in a corner store and the biggest thing is a 2 minute waffle maker (ONLY ONE!) & people waiting to use us it! VERY DISAPPOINTING IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A GOOD BREAKFAST! I have had continental breakfast in other hotels that we much better! Now the rooms, good condition BUT the bed bottom frames are made of a metal with a full metal sheet covering all the way around it? What does this mean? Well, if you get close to the bed (you definitely will!) and your shoes hit it, there will be a vibration sound that after a while gets annoying. The hall ways have ceramic floors & hard walls. They are NOT carpeted. What does that mean? When you are sleeping & there is someone in the hall walking, talking, pulling a cart, opening the entrance door (whatever), the sound reverberates throughout the whole floor! I woke up several times because of this which people may not like who are not heavy sleepers. Ramada, you put carpets on the floors for your guest to avoid noise & disturbance's in the hotels. I think that should be class 101 for any hotel. Oh, then I got a text from Ramada requesting that I choose from the options of check-out. One option was "I checked out already", another was "Checking Out at 10am", another "Checking Out at 11am" and then no other choices? Then it asked if I wanted to check out at 1pm it would be another $25 and if I wanted to check out at 3pm it would be another $50 but there was nothing indicating regular 12pm check out? I went to the front desk & questioned if I needed to leave by 11am? The manager said, "No, you have till 12pm". I believe this was deceptive of the hotel to try to get more $ out of you. This is my honest opinion & if I had to stay at another Ramada, I would probably check the rooms first & the hallway floors before I commit to staying. Hope that...
