I’ll start by saying this hotel has a great location. We took a nice walk to the beach and there are some bars and restaurants very nearby. That’s where this place really shines. Everything else… not so much. The parking situation is not great. It’s a small and tight lot with only enough parking for one car per room. When we stayed, there were some larger trucks parked in the lot making it impossible to fit into some spots. We were forced to park on a nearby street. The rooms were not well kept. Visible scuffs, grime, and damage appear on almost every surface. The floors were even cupping from some prior water damage. We were provided with some earplugs but they were so bad it was like wearing nothing at all and you’re gonna need them! The bar across the street was pumping music till 2 AM and you will hear it. We also had an early 6 AM wake up call from housekeeping cleaning the room above ours. We heard their conversation, heard their vacuum, and heard them bumping and moving everything around. In short, you will hear everything, you will not feel clean, but you’ll be able to walk to some restaurants and the marina which is kinda neat. You’d be better off finding some chain hotel nearby and driving. I would not come back.

Had a "harbor view" which consisted of the front part and loading dock of a neighboring restaurant. Hotel is sandwiched between this restaurant and a bar across the street, which leads to a noisy atmosphere. Room was clean-ish. Took about 20 minutes to figure out how the AC worked. It was taped up and looked broken, but we eventually got it going. Hotel could use some major touch ups. Tub surround is cracked and moldy. Walls are scuffed, and pain is peeling in many places. We stayed on the second floor and there seems to be a small roof leak that's not been addressed. Lastly while my side of the bed was comfortable, the mattress springs on wife's side seems to be broken, which causes one to roll off in the night if you aren't careful. All of this would be really upsetting if we paid any more than $109 a night.

Don't let the exterior fool you, this place has completely updated rooms and is perfect for the price. Despite being right on a main road, noise was minimal. The rooms are modern, staff very helpful and friendly. I recommend this place to anyone who loves to fish, as the boat landing and piers are right behind the building. To my surprise the inn includes continental breakfast with basic pastries, cereals, juices, and fruit. The only thing keeping me from a 5 star rating was the not so updated exterior and the noticeable lack of accessible outlets near the nightstand. There is one right under the window that is accessible, but I'd recommend bringing an extension cord. Overall I had a great experience here and would definitely stay again if I'm in San Diego.

This is a comfortable little place, albeit dated and in need of some TLC. We had a king room in a corridor on the first floor. Room has no carpet but laminate flooring in decent condition. Room also has the obligatory mini fridge and microwave, a few hangers, ironing board and iron, and hair dryer. The bathroom is small in size and the tub is very clean with no stains. This room and, I would imagine, most all of the rooms, are suitable for two people or maybe two with a child but are not spacious in any way. The bed for me felt worn and soft but no bad springs or anything, it was comfortable as well as the linens decently clean and pillows were newish. The top cover had some stains and needed a good washing. The furniture is in need of replacement and it is looking tattered. The wifi and tv were excellent - strong wifi signal and many channels of DirecTV in HD. Provided also was an office chair and another dining style chair but there needed to be another small table in the room. There is air conditioning which is great, and pretty quiet. They also offer a small continental breakfast consisting of breads and danishes as well as a selection of cereals and packaged oatmeal, juices and coffee, all served in the cramped front check in area. Things I noticed: In the bathroom - Wallpaper peeling off of the wall at the seams and the grout in the floor tile needs to be completely redone as it was brown/black maybe from dirt or mold or something. The magnifying mirror was falling off of the wall and the little glass shelf was bent so that it was unusable to put anything on it. The window opens maybe 2 inches but very little ventilation and noticed black mold or mildew on inside of window slide. The bottom of the door looked water damaged and perhaps a bit mildewy. The room could really use a nice comfy chair and replacement of the furniture. Parking lot is very small but adequate. However on a busy weekend it could be difficult to maneuver. You really can hear everything - just keep the a/c on and it works as a great white noise to drown it out.

This place is really all about location near the San Diego Marina and also very close to downtown, Sea World, the San Diego Zoo and all other things you would like to see or do while visiting. It is located on a much quieter street than Rosecrans and within walking distance of some excellent restaurants on the Marina, and down Scott St. as well as Starbucks and McDonald's. It's a good place to stay and we...

Rooms are outstanding! Don't let the vintage look of the exterior deceive you. The rooms are modern, clean, mildew free, hard clean hypoallergenic flooring and just enough space. Comfortable beds and bedding with plenty of pillows and soft towels. All of the rooms seem to be recently equipped with modern point of use heat pumps (AC and heat). I think they have pet friendly rooms too. The and landscaping is well groomed.

The location is ideal if you're in town for the beaches, downtown, fishing, or site seeing. 8 min to the beaches, 6min to the airport exits, and maybe 10 to convention center or gas lamp area. Uber ride to OB was roughly 6 dollars. Also located just a few minutes to the Shelter Island fishing Pier. Only reason I don't give it 5 stars is the parking! If you stay here and go out for the evening I recommend not to drive because trying to park at the hotel after 8pm is frustrating. The spots are so tight that unless you're in a compact car your passengers have to get out first and you will need to hug one side of the spot for you to get out. Their lot only has 2 spots ideal for a full-size truck and one is reserved for just trucks. The handicap spots are in good locations. I was told that the issue only occurs when there's an event in the area and the hotel is 90-100 booked. The driveway and sport fishing landing next door can get a bit loud and busy in the early am when people are coming and leaving that lot and the charter boats fire up their massive diesel engines and sit and idle before departing. It didn't bother me but did wake me up for a few minutes. I live in a rural area in middle of northern Arizona on a large pc of land so I'm not use to hearing the hustle and bustle but I actually enjoyed it. I can see it bothering some.

I've stayed here before and the rates have always been fair. This trip I unfortunately took while Comic Con was going on downtown and horse racing in Delmar. They're rates for 2 nights was the same I've paid for a week of stay in the past but so we're everyone elses. What I don't get is they still had a few rooms left over each night so I asked if if they don't sell out and I decide to stay another night and I check with them around 9pm would they sell me a room for normal rates? They said no. I think that's a bad business decision on their part since goal of any hotel manager should be to book ALL the rooms as much...

With the bones of a retro mom-and-pop motel and the lovely new renovation, this is our new San Diego favorite! Great location, clean and sophisticated, daily housekeeping (a rarity these days!), plenty of outlets, good lighting, Beekman toiletries (if you know, you know!), plush towels in the spotless bathroom, great water pressure, comfy mattress and bedding, notepad and pen, fridge in room, microwave in lobby. Beautiful area along the waterfront and off the beaten path.||Horace kindly put us upstairs in room 208 so we could have a nice view. We very much enjoyed staying in one cold, rainy night and watching the world glimmering below as people dashed in and out of one of several restaurants in the cul-de-sac (see pic). Point Loma Seafoods right behind the property is wonderful and stays busy. It currently closes at 6:30 p.m., so any crowd noise dissipates early. We could hear planes from the airport, but it's not in the flight path and wasn't distracting to us. Ear plugs are thoughtfully provided, just in case. Loved that access is with a gate key or through the front lobby, and property has security-camera video monitoring. Too cold to try the pool, but it was clean and inviting.||The one teeny issue we had was with a dysfunctional k-pod coffee heating element, and they immediately gave us another one to use. There is no elevator, so keep that in mind and select ground floor for mobility issues. ||Can't...
