My boyfriend and I went here almost every weekend during the summer and they have out of this world, gelato and coffee. The two young men that worked there over the summer were so sweet, kind, and provided great customer service. We went again this weekend and it was a completely different vibe with the employees that were working on Saturday afternoon. One lady was scooping gelato with the regular amount that customers are supposed to receive and the other lady was giving everyone half the amount that one should be served. They were also playing music ridiculously loud which they never did over the summer when the two young gentlemen were working. I don’t know if they lost those employees and just re-hired some new people, but the people that were working on Saturday afternoon, completely changed the amazing vibe that this place used to have. I think some retraining needs to happen with the employees so that way they make sure to serve the correct amount of gelato because one of the ladies is serving way too little compared to everybody else. And please lower the music because it ruins the whole vibe of the place. I gave this place five stars for the customer service, terrific vibe, and amazing gelato and coffee that we were served over the summer, but if I was to rate this place based on Saturday’s experience, it would...
Read moreMy mom and I walk seaport multiple times per week and have always wanted to try Malibu Farm. We are loyal Spill The Beans customers but after waiting in line for 15 minutes there we decided it would be the perfect time to try out Malibu Farm Coffee Shop. I was deeply disappointed by the service my mom and I received by the cashier and barista. We were met with a blank stare by the cashier as we waited for the customer in front of us to leave the order kiosk. She then opened her mouth and said “Are you going to order anything?” As the man still stood in front of the kiosk. When our drinks were ready, the barista called out our orders and didn’t look up from staring at the countertop once. This experience makes me not want to step foot in the coffee shop again but also never enjoy a meal at the restaurant. People always ask for recommendations on places to eat while in San Diego and I have recommended Malibu Farm multiple times without ever dining there based on the aesthetics and photos I’ve seen. It’s safe to say I will cross this place off my recommendation list for people...
Read moreMalibu Farms has recently added a coffee shop in Seaport Village. It is located on the east side of the building. It opens at 8 am. daily. In addition to coffee teas, they also offer fresh juices, smoothies, ice cream by the scoop, sorbet, homemade cones, and baked goods such as muffins, scones, and cookies, not to mention paninis.
I had an iced Americano with milk and a strawberry lemon scone. By the time I arrived late morning, most of the baked goods were gone and had not been replaced. At any rate, the American was okay. Its flavor up front was good, but it did not end well. It had a harsh flavor. Perhaps the espresso machine needed some cleaning.
The scone was just okay, too. I expected a punch of flavors or lemon and strawberry berry, but the scone was bland. The strawberry flavor was subtle at best, and the lemon flavor was non-existent. They can definitely do better than this.
The service was good. The young lady behind the counter was very nice and cordial. I will be back and hope for a better experience with...
