Beware of room 437. They get a star for location, and they get a star for the size of the room. The bathroom had hairs in it when we entered, and a stain on the floor between the toilet and the sink that could have been either hair dye that they tried to clean up or urine that was left to dry. The first night within a few minutes the TV went out saying something about a bad antenna connection we called down and they said they would send up an Technician, but after about 45 minutes the tv came back on so we called and cancelled. The TV was constantly in and out of reception for the rest of our stay. Since everything in the quarter closes at 10 that is the only thing to do after 10, but the constant interruption forced us onto our phones inbetween service interruptions or to just go to wander the halls. The mattress on one side of the bed box spring was collapsed, and was extremely uncomfortable. The first night we thought it was just us, from a long drive in the car down to San Diego, but the next evening when we got back to our room and went to go to bed, upon inspection, we noticed how bad the collapse really was and realized that was what was making trying to sleep painful. So much so that we woke up at 5am our last day there (we stayed 2 days), I sent a message to cancel my lunch with a friend I hadn't seen in 18 years, and decided not to visit la Jolla and old town, which were our plans for our last day in San Diego. We decided to just drive back home, since we both got zero sleep overnight. When we brought the bed issue up at our checkout around 6am to the guy at the counter we were met with a smug attitude. The man boasted that the beds were what they usually got compliments on. We responded with a suggestion that they take that bed out of circulation, they obviously got their money out of it. Breakfast downstairs was cancelled because of covid, that does not affect our star rating, there was no information on how to connect with a menu for any kind of room service ( if there was any) in our room. However, we were forced to pay a 25 dollar a day "service fee" which was a mandatory fee to pay for the wifi code (I have unlimited data, so didn't need that) also to be able to use the hotel bikes (I was with a handicap person, so couldnt use those) and a 25 dollar food credit from their "market place" which was poorly stocked vending machine snacks and a few handfuls of hot pockets in an otherwise empty ice cream freezer. The first night we went and got two bags of chips (small bags) and they were still charged to our room and showed up on the final invoice. Even though all the hotels in the immediate area with a similar price had better reviews, I chose the Hilton because the room size was listed as bigger than all the rest, I was a little disappointed to find out that about 100sq feet of the room was just a hallway from the door to the bathroom. I'll definitely be staying at the omni or the pineapple on my next trip to San Diego. Also, when trying to call down to the front desk after about 7pm the phone just rings and rings for a good 5 minutes, so service sucked. Based on this stay, I'll never stay at a hilton hotel again. They used to have a high quality standard, that clearly is no...

If you’re looking for the ultimate stay in San Diego, the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter is absolutely the place to be! After spending a blissful week in La Jolla and two wonderful nights on Coronado Island at another Hilton property, we wrapped up our honeymoon with four unforgettable nights here. And let me tell you, it was the perfect finale to our trip.
We arrived the day before Halloween, and the energy in the Gaslamp Quarter was electric. This hotel is in the heart of it all—literally. Step outside, and you’re on the main street of one of San Diego’s most vibrant areas, surrounded by restaurants, nightlife, and entertainment. The excitement was palpable, and being right in the middle of the action made our stay unforgettable.
When we checked in, the hotel staff, already aware we were celebrating our honeymoon, upgraded us to one of their finest suites—a loft suite overlooking the main street, directly across from the Hard Rock Hotel. The suite was stunning, with vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows offering incredible views. From our room, we could see down to the rooftop of the Hard Rock, and the energy and lights from the bustling street below made the experience feel truly magical. I’ve even shared a few videos to capture just how incredible this setup was!
The hotel itself is a masterpiece: modern, elegant, and absolutely immaculate. The service? Outstanding. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing stay. The hotel’s rabbit theme is charming and unique, adding a fun, playful vibe to the sophistication. The on-site restaurant is a must-visit—four-star quality with innovative dishes like rabbit tacos that were surprisingly delicious and memorable.
Our stay was so great that when our flight was delayed on our final day, we couldn’t bring ourselves to sit in the airport and wait. Instead, we headed back to the Hilton, and they graciously accommodated us for one more night, giving us a room on the top floor. This room overlooked the city center, providing a stunning view of downtown San Diego. It was the perfect way to cap off our honeymoon and gave us even more amazing memories and photos.
The Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter is more than just a hotel—it’s an experience. The location, luxurious accommodations, exceptional service, and vibrant atmosphere make it a must for anyone visiting San Diego. Whether it’s for a special occasion like ours or just a getaway, you won’t regret staying here. It’s truly a gem, and we can’t...
Read moreStayed at Hilton in Gaslamp for Pedal the cause weekend. It is a great location near the entrance sign of Gaslamp and across the street to the convention center. This place is great for Comic-Con and conferences in downtown. However, there are a few misses for a Hilton hotel and with so many options like the Hilton Bayfront nearby this is really just for the location. First, parking is valet only currently at $49/night Nov 2018. While valet was good about getting our vehicle, the valet phone was down so we'd have to call via front desk and give them the info. Once there was incorrect info given and they brought out the wrong vehicle. I would avoid bringing a car. The lobby is a but small, but they do have a 24hr marketplace and restaurant/bar to the side. The entrance doors get locked in the evening and require key entrance making it safe to avoid having random people coming and going. The front desk were always friendly and helpful. The room we got was a king bedroo. on the 5th floor. The space itself was smaller for the bed size. Also, the bed was more of an eastern king, shorter than normal. The bathroom contained a hairdryer and comp toothbrushes which was different. We declined housekeeping, but calling to their desk, they were very nonexistant about getting extra towels or fixing broken outlets. They literally never came. We got extra towels from the nice maid cleaning rooms instead. Needless to say we were disappointed with getting simple hotel things like extra towels. Overall what we enjoyed about the place was the location and that at the end of fourth st they are slightly away from the crowds which was a bonus to us. However, the housekeeping was off and surprisingly we could not check out via the TV and had to go to the front desk. I'm on the fence if we would stay here again. I would come here for location and convenience to gaslamp and convention center, but avoid it if I wanted a realy holiday/vacation stay for a longer period. There are too many great options elsewhere with rooftop bars and more amenities for about the same price in downtown. Marriott,...
