This is as good as it gets. The raw fish smells only of cucumber, which indicates impeccable freshness and care. The sushi is expertly portioned and displayed. The restaurant itself is clean and free of powerful aromas from other foods (a constant problem of Hibachi restaurants), leaving no means to distract from the delicate taste of this premium sushi bar. I was so impressed with our experience that I ordered drinks for our chefs, Tony and Sato, both expert. They toasted us and upon learning that I am an active duty sailor, and it being Independence day, they crafted two delicious and complementary lobster rolls for us. We ordered: Mixed tempura (light and crispy, just the right amount of savory prior to our meal). Ginger salad (unlike virtually any other ginger dressing. My new favorite). Miso Soup (at the risk of sounding redundant, the best I've had. Not too salty). Katana roll (California roll topped with salmon and paper thin lemon slices; a pleasantly fresh twist while in no way detracting from the flavor of the salmon). Sashimi combo (2 yellowtail, 2 tuna, 2 sashimi). It comes with thinly sliced cucumbers over a bit of seaweed salad, and a bowl of white rice).
All of our food was about $48 ($20 sashimi combo $10 tempura $18 Katana roll), I was stuffed, though it does help thaty wife eats very little. Two large Sapporo at $10 per bottle with a $20 tip and $7 for the drink for Tony and Sato put our bill just under $100.
This was a refreshing and delicious experience. I recommend you let the chef know what you like and allow him to make a recommendation. As with all master sushi chefs, they are happy to entertain all of your questions and are excellent conversationalists. This experience was a real treat for us. I hope...
Read moreI came here for dinner today and it wasn't super busy, I was seated at a table immediately and the place seemed nice enough. I ordered the cucumber sunomono salad, which was okay, it wasn't completely marinated in the vinegar sauce but the seaweed on top was flavorful. I ordered the rocket roll and spider roll(?) it was like a spider roll but I don't think that's what it was called on the menu. The sushi was decent and I had no complaints with the food. I almost thought about going back if not for a glaring service issue.
My gripe is there was a waitress who brought out my food and basically threw it on the table without confirming the orders were mine, and then proceeded to ignore me while checking in on the other tables. I thought there was a server change but they all periodically went around, but for some reason she chose to ignore me. This really made me wonder what I did but I ate alone and kept to myself, so who knows. I took off one star for this attitude that was directed at me. This really ruined the experience overall so I...
Read moreSpent 40 minutes waiting for the food I ordered only to be told that the kitchen had no time they could provide me for my food to be done, as in we were expected to wait indefinitely. The server did not communicate that the kitchen was backed up, which would have been totally understandable, so we did not know until nearly 1 hour had passed that we could have just ordered from the sushi bar for a fast turnaround. The manager also sent two workers to a table that was upset because their food took too long, and refused to speak to them directly. As far as the food, overpriced for the quality, waste of time. EDIT: post "owner" response. As you can tell based on the owners' response they are a coward with poor business integrity. They are admitting they sent workers to talk to customers instead of facing the customers themselves. No wonder they have such high turnover. They suck. Any responsible owner would have apologized directly to their customer, this owner never did, never even offered a discount, until their customer refused to...
