We've recently been using the "carnitas TJ/street tacos" as our standard barometer to evaluate various local taco shops, and these were average to above average among those we've tried. Their offering is $3.00 each with many different options, which is not bad for being right on the beach, and nice if you're by yourself, as some places only sell four mini tacos (of all one kind only) for $9-10.00, which is more "standard", (my wife and I usually split an order of four, and that's usually perfect). They were hot and fresh, and the size of the tortillas was as expected, but these were solid "four bite" tacos. This my additional metric to compare different offerings as most others are 5-7 bite tacos. The portion of meat was okay, but the carnitas were a little dry. There was enough onion and cilantro (green and red salsa on the side),. The two lime wedges for four tacos were dry. The big strike (cost them a star) was no guacamole of any kind, which is a must, and would have helped the dryness. One of the four was juicier than the other three, so.... The two ladies behind the counter were very nice and...
Read moreMarcy's Mexican Food might look small and unassuming, especially sitting next to a huge, flashy competitor, but don’t let that fool you, this is absolutely the better choice. The food here is nothing short of delicious!
I ordered the quesabirria tacos, and they were vien servidos, crispy, generously packed with meat and cheese, and bursting with flavor. The portions were perfect, and everything tasted fresh and authentic. For dessert, I had a vanilla-filled churro, which was the perfect sweet finish.
A good test of any Mexican restaurant is the quality of their rice and beans, and Marcy’s didn’t disappoint. They were flavorful enough to enjoy on their own. I wish I had taken pictures, but I was too busy inhaling every bite!
The experience was made even better by the lovely woman who not only prepared the food herself but also offered thoughtful recommendations. Her care and passion for the food really shined through.
Overall, Marcy’s is a hidden gem that I’ll definitely be coming back to. I’m looking forward to trying more items on the menu....
Read moreShould have just gone to the corner shop instead. We ordered 3 burritos (Carne Asada, Carnitas & breakfast). $36 for 3 burritos, Way too expensive for the mediocre food we got. *Carne Asada had reasonable amount of meat but every bite without salsa you can taste the grease from the flat iron. Flavor was blahhh. **Carnitas had good flavor but was so small it was not worth it. Hungry after earring it and ended up eating some of the other Burritos. *breakfast was also blahhh as it had a bunch of potatoes. Every bite big chunks of potatoes. No flavor since the bland flavor from the potatoes covers the rest of the stuff. **Orange Salsas was ok and green one was not good. Too watery for both. Everything just needs to...
