Matisse Bistro — Restaurant in San Diego

So good! I got the Mediterranean Chicken Pesto with a side of chipotle sauce and a side salad. Everything was fresh and delicious! The chipotle sauce may have been the best I’ve ever had. Pesto and chipotle may not be the combo for everyone but it was great in my opinion. The dressing for salad was also amazing! The ciabatta bread was really tasty - perfect amount of crisp exterior and soft interior. Everything was so good, I decided I had to go back and get dessert. I got a lemon bar for dessert and it did not disappoint. The lemon flavor was spectacular.

On top of everything, the service was outstanding. The man who helped me was friendly to everyone who walked in, including myself. Prices were also very reasonable and they have a variety of options to choose from.

Go inside lobby of 501 Office building. If you don’t know that this cafe is inside the back of the lobby of the office building at 501 Broadway, you’ll never find this place. There’s no sign outside for the bistro. I had the chicken salad sandwich. It was delicious. For us wannabe coffee snobs... The double espresso was bitter; perhaps because it was a little larger than I expected and using more water to provide a larger portion risks making a bitter espresso due to over extraction. Very nice counter service lunch spot in the Koll building downtown. The turkey with pesto aioli on ciabatta was delicious. The food is fresh, portions are large, and the toasted ciabatta is incredible. It makes the sandwich. This place makes the best split pea soup in town. It's got a nice base of split pea complemented with carrots and a delicious blend of herbs that takes it to the next level. The fruit infused water is a nice touch.
