This place deserves a negative 400 star. Its taken me a few days to collect myself and write down all my thoughts about this establishment. My friends and I(latina female) visited this bar on Saturday September 17, 2022 before and after the San Diego Wave FC game. When we returned after the game most of the crew got in line to enter however my best friend (white female) (who I have not seen in a few months) and I moved to the side and sat by some chairs in front of McGregor's to continue our conversation since we had been been having an emotional and important conversation. We spoke for a few minutes and due to the nature of the topic I teared up a bit and quickly wiped the tears away. No one close to us would've been able to hear our conversation because of the private nature of the topic. While we continued to talk, a McGregor's bouncer approached us and said that he would be unable to allow us into the establishment due to my "emotional state" and that he would be unable to serve us. I could not believe my ears and frankly did not understand what he meant because it made no sense. My friend, very calmly, asked him to repeat himself an explain why we would not be able to enter the establishment if we were a. of legal age, and b. in a perfectly normal state of mind to enter (Not falling of the table drunk, yelling, nor causing a scene). He just repeated that I was too emotional and he was not allowed to let us in. As I mentioned, we were quietly and calmly having a private conversation, far away from the entrance line, and not disrupting ANYONE. My friend mentioned our other friends were inside and asked if there was any chance we could be allowed in since we were both calm and of legal age and there was no legal reason that we should be barred. He later came back and said he would let us in.
We went in just to tell our friends what had happened and we all quickly decided we would not continue to stay in such a MISOGYNISTIC establishment. Had we been men, this wouldve been a non issue. Men are allowed to be loud, (especially at sports bars where this is the norm) and to express their emotions. Funnily enough, as soon as we entered this clearly inebriated man threw a glass to the floor and shattered it and yet he was allowed to remain and a server cleaned it up. McGregor's clearly thinks being an "emotional woman" (barf) is worse that a drunken and potentially dangerous man.
This bouncer and this bar targeted us because we are women and they clearly are prejudiced and do not deserve any woman's hard earned money. We did NOTHING wrong and yet were belittled by this man and this bar.
tldr: This place is run and managed by misogynistic pigs and if you are a woman or an ally you should't spend your...

We took a seat at a high top table near the pool tables. It only took 2 minutes for the server to acknowledge us and said she'd be right back with some menus and water for us. Samantha was great. She snuck in a drink for me right at the end of happy hour so I could get the discount. She also brought my husband 2 glasses of soda so that if she got really busy, he'd have an extra one. I had a few Moscow Mules, we shared the fish & chips and had the grasshopper pie for dessert. The fish was done well, and the fries were cooked perfectly. The grasshopper pie was a huge piece of mint chocolate chip ice cream pie & it was delicious. Enough to share for sure. There was live music again and she was great. We want to come again on trivia night, so we'll be back. I'm glad we gave them another chance.
I wish I could give zero stars!. We went on a Friday night right before 6 pm. They had live music this night, although it was not that busy. The 2 guys at the door said to take a seat anywhere, so we took a hightop table next to the window. We started looking at the menu and decided what we wanted. But then we waited, and waited and waited. Not one server or employee even acknowledged us. Two male employees, who I think we busers, walked by several times. Two tables left around us, and these 2 guys cleaned both of the tables. Again, there is no acknowledgment. 2 female servers walked by us a few times. Again...no acknowledgment or I'll be right with you. No one even brought us water. Some new people sat in the 2 now empty tables around us, and they got menus & water almost right away. After 20 mins or so, we just got up and left. This is the worst service I've ever received. (well, no service, really). It is quite sad because we were excited to try this place since it's in our neighborhood. Stay away from this place unless you want to...
Read moreI am a nurse and because of my difficult routine I always went to this bar to relax and today I witnessed something very unpleasant. I have been going to the bar for about 3 years and have always been treated very well. Today I saw a treatment that made me leave and I never intend to go back... There were two young men at the outside table with their pitcher of beer and eating something that was not from the bar. The waiter came to the table and said something. I believe he said that he could not eat his food there (it looked like a burrito). In less than a minute the security guard came to the table and asked the young man to leave. One of them who was eating left and stayed eating outside while his friend remained sitting at the table. Before he finished his snack, the waiter came to the table, took away the pitcher and the glasses and gave them back their cards... I have never seen such despicable behavior... I found it rude, unnecessary and disrespectful to the two customers, who simply took their things and left without drinking their beer or enjoying their snack... I am sorry, I will NEVER go back to this...
