Usually busy, but really efficient & always good. The service is super friendly & I think it reflects great management. They know a lot of people come here for the queso (because it's the best!), & they are generous to a fault with it, which is so nice.

Parking can be somewhat of a pain because it's Old Town, but they have a tiny parking lot in back. Even when that’s full (which it likely will be if you come for dinner/on the weekend), we've never had to spend that much time looking for street parking, so it's really not that big of a deal.

The food is probably not gonna be the most amazing Mexican food you've ever had - honestly I feel like that's reserved to hole-in-the-wall types of places - but it's definitely better than a lot of other comparable chains and generously portioned. Their chips are always fresh, served with a delicious, flavorful red salsa & the aforementioned queso.

We used to frequent the location on Coronado, but have recently been visiting this location more often, partly because it's a more convenient location (for us), and partly because it's always so pleasant and the managers are super involved in making sure the service is high quality. For example, one time we were being led back to our table when it was suddenly discovered that it wasn't actually available and we needed to wait a while longer. No big deal really, but the manager was so kind and conscientious and actually comped our drinks in order to make up for the confusion.

We made the mistake of going back to the Coronado location today, & while it’s a story for another review, let’s just say we won’t be doing that ever again. It’s been awhile since I visited any of the other locations, so I can’t speak to them, but definitely stay away from Coronado & come to Old Town if you want to get great service & enjoy your...

Miguel's Cocina is a bustling Mexican restaurant with a lively atmosphere and a delicious menu. The restaurant is located in the heart of Old Town San Diego, making it a great place to stop for a meal before or after exploring the historic district.

I recently had the opportunity to dine at Miguel's Cocina, and I was very impressed with the overall experience. The restaurant was busy, but we were seated right away and our server was friendly and attentive.

To start, I ordered the skinny margarita, which is made with fresh lime juice, tequila, and Cointreau. The margarita was perfectly balanced and refreshing. I also received a complementary basket of tortilla chips and salsa. The chips were warm and crispy, and the salsa was flavorful and slightly spicy.

For my main course, I ordered the steak fajitas. The fajitas were cooked to perfection and served with a generous portion of grilled onions and peppers. The steak was tender and juicy, and the onions and peppers were perfectly cooked. The fajitas were also served with all the fixings, including guacamole, sour cream, and tortillas.

I was also impressed with the selection of food at Miguel's Cocina. The menu offers a wide variety of Mexican dishes, including appetizers, entrees, and desserts. There is something for everyone at Miguel's Cocina, even if you are dining with picky eaters.

Overall, I had a great dining experience at Miguel's Cocina. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was lively and fun. I would definitely recommend Miguel's Cocina to anyone looking for a great Mexican dining experience in Old...

Came here on my last night in San Diego, staying at the Courtyard Marriott so less than a 5 min walk. (Have that margarita and make it the passion fruit one!!) The unique smokey salt rim is fantastic, highly recommended by my awesome server, Abby. I was seated at the brick oven bar, hesitant at first but super happy with my experience. The tortilla press and grill station is right there and she also uses the brick oven, very cool to watch the process. I had the enchiladas from the dinner section and they were perfect. Sometimes enchiladas are so drenched in sauce that everything is mush. These had texture from the rustic cut pickled topping, the thick tortilla and the steak-which you could taste as it was not drowned by the delicious sauce was all just very good. I didn’t eat the rice, already filled up on chips and dip, couldn’t help myself. The young man who was hosting (28 Sept) was so pleasant and respectful explaining my seating options for a party of one (table wait 30 min, bar immediate seating.) Being at the bar, I overheard his phone management and customer service skills and I was very impressed by his genuine courtesy. You just don’t see that all the time these days, wish I got his name but I didn’t. Thanks for a super last night in...

Venturing into Old Town, we decided to dine at this much-talked-about restaurant, with expectations high for an authentic culinary experience. Our party of six, each choosing different dishes, aimed to sample the breadth of their menu. The first encounter was with their ultimate margarita, anticipated to be a standout given Old Town's reputation. Unfortunately, the drink was a letdown, overly sweet and lacking the robust liquor kick one would expect. My personal choice, the Combination Del Jefe, promised an exciting mix of tamale, steak, and enchilada. The reality, however, was underwhelming. The steak suffered from being overly chewy and salty, while the tamale was disappointingly dry and echoed the same saltiness. The enchilada, though passable, didn't quite make up for the rest. The rest of the group found their meals to be satisfactory. The saving grace of our dining experience was the chips and dips. The salsa was notably fresh and flavorful, providing a pleasant end to our meal. While this restaurant has the potential to be a gem in Old Town, our experience was marred by a few culinary missteps. The ambiance and location are promising, but improvements in the balance of flavors and drink quality are needed.
