Poma's Italian Deli — Restaurant in San Diego

MAN , when I tell you that I will be driving back down from LA to eat that Torpedo sandwich because of how good it was, I am not joking.

My wife and I were casually walking around seeing the beaches when we passed by a gentleman eating a sandwich and my wife noticed it and said it looked so good so we decided to ask which one he was having . He then told us he was eating the Torpedo sandwich right before he rode off on his bike. We looked at the menu and saw it was the first sandwich on the list, and since we were up early and could use a snack we decided to go ahead and try it. As we waiting for our sandwich, at least 4 other people came by and ordered the same sandwich plus other tops picks on the menus. We asked for ours warmed and let me tell you. The bread was so crunchy and toasty, the cheese was warm and just the right amount of melted. We sat in the car idling, right before we took off just to take a bite and try it. My wife and I sat in the car trading bite for bite until we devoured the sandwich. We finished it off with a bag of jalapeño chips and we looked at each other with a big smile as if we both were thinking the same thing.

We definitely need to come back and eat this again. Right before we pulled off, I made sure I starred this place on my maps and drove off with a happy stomach.

10/10 recommend and I can only imagine how good their other sandwiches are just by reading the reviews👨‍🍳

Craving a good Italian sandwich I came here because of the reviews. I called in my order and it was ready by the time I got there. It's a walk up window where you put your order in or pick it up. They get pretty busy here because I see people walking up to the window left and right. They're pretty well known for the sandwiches. I was quite excited seeing the business they get here. I went home and unpacked my sandwich and take a bite and wow it was absolutely delicious. They give you a good amount of meat here and the dressing here was pretty good. I give the sandwich 7 out of 10. I wish there was a little bit more meat inside though. I'm still looking for that perfect Italian sandwich in San Diego. There's a few table outside where you can sit but it's mostly to go here. Parking can be tough because there's no designated parking spots. I'll be back to try out a few...

I stopped here with a friend and my dad after a bike ride. We were ordering 3 sandwiches and my dad asked if he could please get some tap water in his water bottle. The kid taking our order flat out refused. My dad asked again and extremely reluctantly and with the worst attitude imaginable he went to go get the water. Now I'm not expecting to top tier service at a place like this but the level of attitude to providing a basic item such as water to customers which is required by law was too much for me.
