Rasraj San Diego Review Rating: 2/5
I recently had a disappointing experience at Rasraj San Diego, despite the food being well-presented and served in good quantities. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was subpar, which led to my entire family falling ill after dining there.
Food Quality Issues
We tried a variety of dishes, including dosa, Manchurian, golgappe, and vada pav. While the taste was decent, the quality of the ingredients seemed compromised. Friends later informed us that Rasraj has been known to use stale items and chutneys in their dishes, which likely contributed to our food poisoning.
Cleanliness and Food Safety
It's concerning to hear about such practices, especially in a restaurant. Cleanliness and food safety should be top priorities, and Rasraj seems to be falling short in this regard.
Service and Ambiance
On a positive note, some reviewers have mentioned that the service at Rasraj can be quick and the staff friendly. However, this wasn't enough to redeem our experience.
Comparison to Other Reviews
Interestingly, other customers have had vastly different experiences at Rasraj. Some have praised the restaurant's catering services, citing delicious food and excellent service. Others have mentioned that the food is hit-or-miss, depending on the dish and flavor preferences.
Recommendation
Unless Rasraj takes steps to address their food quality and safety issues, I would caution against dining there. There are likely better options in San Diego that prioritize customer health and satisfaction.

Read moreOne of the worst experiences I ever had so far. Generally, I don’t care about ambience as long as the staff is welcoming, and quality of food is good with reasonable price. Yesterday I went there with my family. Since we were very hungry we over-ordered thinking will take some to-go.
First of totally unwelcoming staff as specially the lady taking order. Bhel- it was stale, overpriced. I asked for replacement and I got such an awful gesture. Ultimately they replaced the Bhel. Paneer Sizler - I think they don’t know what is sizler. I felt that they simply prepared sizler on kadhai and get it on the that cast iron plate to look like sizler. They gave sizler with cabbag. It was runny and taste totally less than mediocre. Pawbhaji - did not taste like pawbhaji. It tasted like it was some mix sabzi prepared with garam masala. Taste less than mediocre. Undhiyu-puri - puri was not real puri. It was a deep fried tortilla. It smelled bad and tasted little bitter. Undhiyu was just very average. Hakka noodle - little okay.
While I would have not cared about this taste had we were treated properly. As I mentioned in the beginning it was totally unwelcoming and unfriendly gesture. Anyway we were visiting San Diego. So we will not step here again. I guess their main customers base is visitors. Hence, they don’t care because they know that those visitors won’t come again.
Stay away from this restaurant. Nice alternative...
Read moreFood - We used go here regularly for the past 10 years. Lately we found that the food is way too over-priced and the quality has gone down too. I can understand with inflation, higher prices are expected but for about 3 to 4 snack/chat items costing between $40 - 50 is ridiculous. Although we stopped going there for food, we still used to visit the place for sweets. The sweets are a hit or miss. 1.We found that the mathura peda that they sell, is the same as the frozen Dharwad peda which we get in Miramar cash and carry. So those of you who have purchased it have just over-paid for something that we can get for cheaper. We once got the kasata barfi which was hard and stale. Few days back we had a very unpleasant experience when purchasing sweets. We ordered chandrakala which, being seasonal, is usually fresh. After having ordered this we asked for a sample of the kasata barfi to make sure that it is fresh based on our prior experience. But the attendant rudely mentioned 'We don't give out samples' We were just taken aback by her rude and sharp response as we have seen them giving out samples to customers in the past. There used to be another store which was their competitor and serving similar cuisine and sweets which unfortunately closed down during the pandemic. Seems like the monopoly got...
