Rubio's Coastal Grill — Restaurant in San Diego

I am writing this review to applaud DINESTI, the restaurant Manager of the Rubio's Coastal Grill on Mission Gorge [SD 92120]. She was working the Register this evening and this"review" is particularly addressed to commend DINESTI for her customer service skills, genuine and happy smile, as well as her significant attention to detail. Not only did DINESTI take the time to go through each of the options that come with our meals, but identified the differences in the three (3) varieties of shrimp tacos for us to choose. We selected the soft tortilla shells because we did not want them to be grilled with oil; and, we added black beans, rice, cabbage, avocado and mild salsa.

Before concluding the order, DINESTI then inquired if we wanted anything to drink and desert. She exhibited he type of heartfelt attentiveness you might expect at a fine diner, but it was so great to have this service at a local eatery. Take it from me, ask whether she is working before you go there to be able to not only enjoy their outstanding food, but to enjoy the care and appreciation that is exemplified by a truly superb Manager. This place should have been included in the Chapter 11 closures. I have gone out of my way to avoid this Rubio's location, even though it's a mile from my house, because of repeated issue with food quality and order mess ups. Every single time, in the last 6 visits, they either messed up my order or the food was so bad, I had to throw it away. The last time I picked up takeout, I called the manager because one of the items in my order was wrong, another was missing. He told me he would issue a refund. The refund was never issued. Today, I accidentally ended up with this location delivering my food from their app. Their app defaulted to this location given my address, and I didn't catch it before I placed the order. Once again I was appalled at the level of disgustingness they delivered. My bowl had BROWN, SLIMY lettuce in it. It only had about 8 small piece of chicken. The bulk of the bowl was rice. The guac was brown. I am now never using the Rubio's app again, nor would I ever set foot in this...

My husband ordered the steak classic taco trio, 2 fish tacos on the side, and I ordered a kids meal. The food came out and the 2 fish tacos and my kids meal was right. We notified the cashier and they took the food and the reciept. The shift lead or whoever she was came over, told us that she would have to refund and then recharge the items that needed to be fixed. My husband said steak while cashier kept saying steak. Now here is where I find them interesting… ( my husband speaks Spanish fluently) the lady was telling the cook in Spanish that we(the customer) changed our minds about what we ordered. They NEVER APOLOGIZED and gave us the cold shoulder while we were dining in. Very rude especially since I had to ask several times...
