PokiMX — Restaurant in San Fernando

Edit/Update: I put it in the fridge overnight and ate it the next day. It was much better than it was when I originally tried it (during the first/original part of this review). I’m raising this review rating from a 2 to a 4. I did throw away the Chipotle Crab (on the 1st day), it was horrible.

I am not sure if I will be coming back here.

HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED!!! This place used to be so good! I hadn’t been to POKIMX for a while, since my original/last review for them. Last time and all of the previous times I went, it was great! But this time, bleh. I cannot get over how yucky this tastes. The first bite, pretty good—every bite just got worse and worse.

They have a new bowl style/packaging. They’re Chipotle Crab (side) is yucky. I got a large Poke bowl as I usually do. They have new chopsticks. They’re cheaper than what they used to give with the meals. I used my personal chopsticks (as I normally do).

The chipotle crab (side option for the poke bowl) is so disgusting this time. It’s very stringy (in a bad way) and almost flavorless….it actually tasted like old dry rubbery store bought low quality crab.

The whole thing tastes yucky. As I mentioned before, it got worse and worse with every bite. I am unfortunately unable to finish the bowl.

I would’ve given them a one star review, purely based on the food—I ordered take out and while I was there, the people at the restaurant were very nice, cheerful, and the restaurant ambience/vibe was decent. A good customer service experience, but horrible downgrade in food quality, flavor, and horrible everything...

Honestly I love this place! The only reason I'm writing a bad review is because I've become really disappointed in their serving sizes. They used to be really great about the serving sizes! Now they barely even cover the rice. The portions are at best 1 1/2 of a large scoop worth of protein. The food is great do not get me wrong but I've been going here for well over a year and the only times I've noticed the portions being better is when they have new hires because I'm assuming they haven't taught them how to be (for the lack of better words) stingy. I have asked about giving me a little more even if it was just half a scoop more they said they charge extra for "extra scoops". I also decided to call regarding the portion sizes they said basically that they got different scoops "smaller scoops" (in their words) . I followed my complaint regarding sizes if they changed scoops and if they know the portions are smaller then why are they increasing the price so often? They had no proper answer. Not only that but their prices went from originally I believe $15 for a large bowl to eventually $16 then it went to $17 now $18? So we're paying almost $20 for a "large" bowl with less than the size of a...

Masago is gone, and the agua chile tastes less limey and more like a salsa verde now, they are also making their own sriracha which tastes great but not like the standard.

As a loyal customer I communicated this to Tony the manager and he went out of his way to make me a poke bowl that was as close to what I usually order here.

It tasted pretty good! I understand the global economy is messed up and supply shortages affect small business like this so I’m still giving these guys five stars because at least they care enough to try to make up for issues outside their control.

Still got a decent meal, and if you’re a hardcore fan of this place like I am then knowing this ahead of time might save you from...
