Arsicault Bakery – A Busy but Worthwhile Stop Near Oracle Park
Located in a lively area near Pier 50, China Basin, and Oracle Park, Arsicault Bakery draws a steady mix of office staff, visitors, and sports fans passing through. I visited on a Thursday around 12:30 p.m., and the place was buzzing with a long line of people waiting for a quick lunch bite.
The bakery has a modern design, with a wooden counter inside and a few round outdoor tables. Seating is limited, but grabbing a pastry and coffee to enjoy under the sunshine makes for a pleasant experience.
Their menu features a variety of croissants—including almond, chocolate, ham & cheese, plain, and occasional specials—alongside baguette sandwiches that are especially popular at lunch. Coffee comes in multiple sizes with plenty of choices to pair with your pastry.
I tried the Blackberry Almond Hazelnut Croissant, and it was excellent—crispy on the outside, with a creamy hazelnut filling, and a surprisingly well-balanced mix of flavors. My vanilla coffee was smooth, and the latte art was an extra nice touch. It's a little bit pricy but worth visiting somehow.
Overall, Arsicault Bakery is a great spot for a quick visit—whether you’re grabbing breakfast, a light lunch, or just treating yourself before a game. Expect crowds at peak hours, but the quality of the pastries makes it worthwhile.
✨ Highlights:
🍩 Excellent variety of croissants
🥖 Baguette sandwiches for a heartier lunch
☕ Quality coffee with beautiful presentation
🌞 Best enjoyed outdoors...
Read morePretty rude service - either overwhelmed or need a better system.
They took the order of the person behind me first - the lady in front had not yet finished so they skipped 2. Held my tongue. Then after ordering I went to the cashier bec the person in front was still deciding and they had my stuff ready. Lady in pink who took my order told me with an attitude "go back in line because it messes things up". Still kept silent. Then when the same lady asked the person behind me what his order was, he said he was "replacing" an order and she got confused. I couldn't hold it anymore and told her thats why I went to the cashier bec the orders weren't in sequence anyway. Pretty obvious they don't have a system - its basically whoever gets their order taken. She shrugged it off instead of apologizing or acknowledging. Also could just be me, but her tone was more condescending to me (Asian) vs the person who skipped ahead knowing folks in front hadn't ordered (non-Asian).
As expected, the cashier repeated orders and got mine and the person in front's wrong. $17 for a croissant and quiche slice (no tip) better be the most amazing thing ever.
You get comparable quality and better service at the other Ariscault and bakeries like Breadbelly, Tartine, and Cinderella.
EDIT: checked other reviews if it was just me but see similar posts about a rude lady. Found an exact same one about taking orders and...
Read moreI stopped by Arsicault after noticing a line while walking my dog, and I’m so glad I did. I hadn’t even heard of the place before, but the moment I walked in, I was hit with the most incredible smell… I knew I was in for something good.
Right away, I was welcomed and the energy inside was so uplifting. Everyone looked genuinely happy to be there, which honestly isn’t always the case in San Francisco. That small detail made a big impression.
Not knowing what to get, I asked the girl behind the counter what she recommended especially it being my first time. Without hesitation, she said, “I got you,” while giving a detailed description of each one. Which honestly I wasn’t expecting but I appreciated. Her top three picks: the almond croissant, kouign amann, and ham & cheese. I trusted her completely — and wow, she delivered.
These pastries are on a whole different level. The almond croissant especially was next-level! Probably the best thing I’ve ever eaten, no exaggeration. It was funny because she had told me that she’ll be going to Hawaii and is making sure to bring a bunch of the almonds with her. At first, I thought that was a bit extra but after tasting them, I totally get it. I’m already thinking about sending some back home to my parents too.
Arsicault, thank you. You’ve got something really special here, and I’ll...
