They were open until 10 pm on New Year’s Eve but it was pretty empty inside when we went. Fast service and they allowed customers who were already there to stay way beyond closing time which was nice.
Hated the fried vegetable dumplings—they were way too overcooked and hard as rocks. The filling was good but too difficult to get out.
The cold noodles with peanut sauce barely had any peanut sauce. It was pretty dry and tasteless. Very little cucumbers. Two thumbs down.
Hot and sour soup was very good and flavorful. It’s not vegetarian though as it’s in chicken broth. That’s fine for me but be aware if you’re a true vegetarian or vegan. Five stars for the soup and the serving size was big for one person.
The General Tso Chicken wasn’t as fried and crispy as other Chinese restaurants are but it was really tasty and moist. Recommend this dish.
They didn’t have soy sauce or duck sauce but had spicy sweet and sour sauce. Not a huge fan of Brandy Ho’s and based on the empty restaurant on a night when everything else was crowded, I’d say I’m not alone....
Read moreVery honest positive review - I was a little skeptical about this place at first after only glancing at the 3.5 star rating on Yelp. Additionally, when entering I could tell this restaurant had been here for awhile. A little outdated on the inside and there may have been a faint smell of where the food aromas have seeped in the walls and furniture over the years. KEEP READING! 😁Upon entering my fiancé and I were greeted right away, by a very friendly and welcoming young woman. I was still questioning if this was a good spot since there was only 1 other family in there. However, looking through the menu I chose the vegetable dumplings and spicy eggplant. 10/10 recommend both of those dishes. I was pretty full so I took 1 dumpling and some eggplant togo. Both were so good that as soon as I got home (20 mins later) I began eating my leftovers. 😆Extremely happy with our choice of this restaurant. Both dishes still have me salivating when I think of them. We will most definitely be visiting or ordering take out from...
Read moreI was introduced to Brandy Ho’s in 1987 when I first moved to The City and I continue to visit this restaurant to this day, even after moving to Boston in 1992, since I often return to the city. Sitting at the bar is a treat since you can watch the cooks prepare dishes with efficiency and style. The menu offers a wide range of delicious options, especially good items include onion cake (the lightest and crispiest you’ll find in Chinatown), cold noodle salad (yummy peanut sauce), and chicken in black bean sauce (a perfect balance of flavors and crispy vegetables), the list goes on. Service is efficient. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the large screen monitor and uninspired lighting detracts from an otherwise perfect dining experience. Once upon a time they opened an upscale version (since closed) that resolved the lighting issues but that edition is long gone). This is a fine San Francisco eatery that should be on everyone’s list, local and...
