Ill start with the positives. I like that they are open late. Food is prepared fairly quick. Hamburgers, fries, onion rings & pancakes are all decent. Decent not spectacular. The prices however are overpriced. If you go in for a cheese burger & a side of either fries or onion rings be prepared to pay at the very least $30 with taxes & tip. My last few visits were to go orders & just about on all the orders i requested extra ketchup when putting order in with server in person. I ordered a cheeseburger with side of onion rings each time. When getting food handed to me in that impossible to open plastic bag i again asked if extra ketchup was in bag. I was told yes each time. After getting to my hotel & tearing plastic bag open in reality what was in bag was 1 packet of ketchup 2 packets of mustard & 1 packet of mayo. My previous order was worse, it contained same condiments except no mayo at all. Its the most annoying thing when you get to your destination & ready to eat & you are now forced to eat a dry cheeseburger & dry onion rings. I dont know why the stingness with the condiments. Was my $6 or $7 tip not enough? When said & done i paid over $30 each time for a mediocre dry burger & dry onion rings. Who in their right mind knowing that there are onion rings & cheeseburger ordered, thinks that 1 measly packet of ketchup is enough!? Further more i had asked for everything on burger. On my last visit i asked for everything including condiments be included on burger. I did this in case they again were stingy with my condiments. My Request With everything on it was ignored & i again left out with a dry cheeseburger & dry onion rings along with 2 packets of mustard 1 packet of ketchup & not even mayo. Do you realize how frustrating this is ....i can easily use 1 packet of ketchup per onion ring! I mean come on!? Who in their right mind eats onion rings plain? So the cheeseburger would of been actually pretty good had the condiments been added from start. At the very least the mayonaise. Tip: putting some mayo on buns while they heat up on grill softens the bun & is a very tasty way to serve a cheeseburger. Same concept of adding the cheese on meat while its on grill cooking. At this point its almost as if you just added a slice of cheese on the side for me to add on after the fact. If that was the case you can only imagine that doing so would greatly take away from the flavor of the cheese melted on to the meat. You would essentially be biting into a semi warm meat (cooled off by the cheese) & cold piece of cheese. Its not rocket science! Your charging for a gourmet white table cloth restaurant cheese burger when in reality your serving a cafeteria style cheeseburger instead. Again with some minor adjustments to the attention of adding condiments like mayo while cooking cheeseburger can make that burger much better! I feel you hve potential to hve a much better diner but lacking in a few key areas. Customer service is also not the best. Seems the servers are always grumpy & over whelmed with just a few tables it seems. Both those meals were ruined due to condiments & the carelessness of the staff. Again at the very least the person with whom i placed order with could hve thrown in a few more packets of ketchup being that i clearly requested it. In reality it should be standard to throw in at least 4 packets of ketchup when an order has burgers & onion rings & not overlook or forget to include extra if the customer requests the extra condiments. I was robbed of a decent meal more than once there & really dont know that ill keep taking chances there. Ive visited several times mainly due to the convenience of being open late but its starting to not be worth it, plus other restaurants are starting to stay open late night so people now...
Read moreI've been here a few times as it's open late night which is a plus since I work nights. I would give more stars but this last visit left me feeling like I possibly wouldn't be back anytime soon.
When you put in an order online for late night/ early morning pick up it gives a timeline of order being sent, order being placed, order prepared and order ready for pick up. When I arrived there were two gentlemen outside smoking literally a foot away from the entrance door, mind you this place is not super big and I get it was raining that night but still.
Second I was greeted by whom I assume is the night manager. He went over my order and told me the bags that were waiting were mine and that was that. Well I had also placed an order for a shake which was not ready with my order also I asked for sides of ranch which he said there were some in the box. I literally went through every box and nothing there. Mind you I placed an order for four people. He proceeded to give me to little little things of ranch I asked him for a few more and if I had to pay I would. Still an attitude as he once again mentioned there were some in the bag which I felt was very rude as I explained and went through every box showing there was nothing. How are you going to be mad at me for you not doing your job.
Upon leaving the two gentlemen that were outside smoking have come inside, one seemed to be a worker there as he walked behind the counter to look for a pen to write down some info. He didn't wash his hands while fumbling around near the counter second he comes literally right on the side of me as I'm repacking my items as if I wasn't there. I had to hurry up and get out of there as I was VERY disappointed in the customer service received from Grubstake on this...

I was so excited to kick off my Triple D adventure at this joint! I'm too cheap to ride a cable car in the city, but I'd happily buy a burger and eat it in a non-functional cable car for a taste of beef and history. The burger was tall, tan, and handsome, piled high with the good stuff. My camera had a feast, but my big mouth did not enjoy it nearly as much. The 10 oz burger patty was a bit bland for my tastes, and I feel like a burger as big as this one should have some secret sauce to bind everything together. It wasn't a bad burger, but it cost $20, and I would have preferred In-N-Out or Super Duper Burger.
After we left the restaurant, my friend realized that our tab was charged to her credit card 3 separate times, which totaled nearly $500. We returned and requested a refund for the 2 extra charges. Our waitress was a sweetheart, apologized for the mistake, and did her best. She was having trouble with the payment system, and Mr. Manager refused to help when she asked. He hid in the kitchen and peeked out occasionally to watch as our waitress struggled. My friends and I had to roll up to the entrance of the kitchen and call him out.
He eventually marched to the counter and worked his magic. He never apologized a single time for the triple transaction, and became frustrated with us when we asked for proof of refund. This salty dude needs to throw some salt on his bland burgers instead of his customers.
VERDICT: Disappointing
