I visited Juniper on a Saturday at around 10:40 AM. The line went out the door but it moved fairly quickly (we had our food in about 15 min). We tried the choux buns (pina colada, hazelnut florentine, and juniper lemon), raspberry almond croissant, yuzu macadamia cookie, elote danish, black sesame kouign amann, traditional croissant, Cubano croissant, PB&J blondie, and orange vanilla pandan latte. The choux buns were excellent - they were small which was perfect for sampling and they were crisp despite being filled. The hazelnut florentine was my least favorite of the flavors we tried - it didn't taste very strongly of chocolate or hazelnut. The yuzu macadamia nut cookie is a great spin on the classic white chocolate macadamia nut cookie - would definitely recommend it. The PB&J blondie was OK - it's gluten free so it has a bit of a gummy texture. All of the pastries were wonderful. My least favorite pastries are the black sesame kouign amann and elote danish. I thought the black sesame kouign amann was really well caramelized and flakey but that black sesame flavor was lacking. I wasn't a huge fan of the elote danish just because I don't really like elote (nothing wrong with the actual pastry). However the traditional croissant, Cubano, and raspberry almond croissants were amazing! I would come back to Juniper to get the Cubano and raspberry almond croissant. I was really excited to try orange vanilla pandan latte but time honest, it just tasted like a slightly sweet latte. Not bad but I thought it was going to have more flavor. Overall, I would highly recommend a stop at Juniper for baked goods - particularly the raspberry almond croissant, Cubano croissant, and yuzu macadamia nut cookie. The staff was very friendly, there is a decent amount of seating inside the bakery, and they...
Read moreCongratulations to Juniper for winning the top awards at the 2024 Best Croissant in San Francisco competition, including first place for the best croissant! ——————————————————————— I’ve been here a few times and I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve had this far.
I’ve had their Cubano croissant, a goat cheese and blackberry choux, peach choux, and orange cake. All of them are delicious! I love the acidity from the pickle in the Cubano croissant and I’m not a pickle person. I don’t like eating them on their own. But it’s delicious in this croissant and I wish I could get them on the side (it’s thinly sliced since it’s rolled into the pastry). The orange cake is small but packs a punch because it’s dense. I really liked the goat cheese and blackberry choux. I like savory/sweet combos and this definitely represents that. The goat cheese is a bit tangy and the blackberry adds just a touch of sweetness. The peach choux wasn’t overly sugary and I liked the detail of the small gelatin flower.
As the drinks, I’ve only had the iced chai and the mocha. Both were very good, especially the mocha.
There’s a good amount of tables, especially if you’re there to work. Though, I read an article about how some patrons just get coffee and work all day. I didn’t see that problem here. People with their laptops tend to order appropriately and leave when they’re done, like in an hour or two tops. I usually leave when I finished my beverage, which is an hour.
The employees are nice. And they play really good music. Juniper is now my go-to place to enjoy coffee and parties on...
Read moreTrust me folks, it’s only a matter of time till Juniper Cafe get 5,000 of 5 stars review and there’s a line in front. It’s better than any bakeries I’ve tried in the Bay Area (yes, all the famous ones, all the way to Yountville) and the big names with shops in Las Vegas. So take the opportunity when it’s still rather a quiet, nice and new place, with available nice tables looking over the street - I also love the modern minimalist interior. If I wasn’t in a rush home, I would have stayed for 2 hours.
If Jupiter Cafe were a car, I would say There’s a genius under the hood. The pastry chef is a genius who made pastries I didn’t like before in general and turned them into little perfections. The little orange cake with crumbs on top (no sorry, I didn’t like your type) got a “Oh my god what is this?” from me before it disappeared on my plate. The choux were perfect - so perfect I shared them with friends and family on the day because I thought it would be a crime not to enjoy them right when they were so perfect. The black sesame Kouign-amann is the best Kouign-amann I’ve ever had bar none. I regret not getting 10 of them instead of 1, but I’m sure if I devour 10 of them, I’ll regret too for different reasons. All in all, such a precious place - drive, walk, hop,...
