While exploring San Francisco, we were thrilled to discover a Nepalese restaurant nearby. Our excitement was shared by our 3-year-old son, who was eagerly looking forward to the food. We arrived for lunch around 3 pm, but unfortunately, our experience was marred by slow and sloppy service.
After waiting for about 15 minutes, we were served complimentary papads. However, our actual order took a staggering 45 minutes to arrive, causing our hungry son to become extremely cranky, and we adults felt the same. The service was disappointingly slow and lacked efficiency.
For our meal, we ordered Veg Momo, Chicken Chowmein, Chicken Thukpa, and Dhido. We requested medium spiciness, but it wasn’t enough for us. The Veg Momos were decent in taste, but the Chowmein and Thukpa were rather bland. We had high hopes for the street-style flavor of the Chowmein, but it fell short. Additionally, the soup lacked flavor.
To our surprise, instead of receiving Dhido, we were served Thakali Thali. When we inquired, we were informed that Dhido would take an additional 15 minutes, but we couldn't wait any longer, so we settled for the Thali. Fortunately, the Thali had a good taste. However, the portion of rice provided with the Thali was insufficient, so we had to order more.
As a final disappointment, we ordered Samosa Chaat as a to-go order, but were surprised to find only 2 Samosas in the box. It was another instance of sloppy service and a failure to accurately fulfill our order.
Overall, our experience at the restaurant left us feeling highly disappointed. The slow service, lackluster flavors, and errors in fulfilling our order contributed to our...

The mango lassi is rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced in sweetness, making it the perfect way to start or end a meal. The samosas are golden, crispy, and packed with a flavorful spiced potato filling, while the pakoras are delightfully crunchy and pair perfectly with the house chutney.
The momos are an absolute must-try—juicy, well-seasoned dumplings that melt in your mouth, served with a delicious dipping sauce. The tandoori dishes are perfectly charred and bursting with smoky, spiced flavors.
For vegetarian options, the aloo gobi is a winner, with tender potatoes and cauliflower cooked in aromatic spices. The chana masala is hearty and comforting, with chickpeas simmered in a rich, flavorful gravy. The korma is creamy and nutty, offering a smooth yet complex taste that’s absolutely delicious.
The chicken biryani is fragrant and beautifully spiced, with each grain of rice infused with flavor. And of course, the butter chicken is heavenly—tender pieces of chicken bathed in a velvety, buttery tomato sauce that’s simply irresistible.

Read more5 stars for food, service, and price. Two of us came by on a Saturday at 12:30pm to a pretty empty dining room (possibly due to the restaurant being right next to the famous San Tung’s). We chose our table, and the server brought out menus and water (and was kind enough to bring us warm water when we asked). The menu is vegetarian friendly, and they even have gluten free naan. We ordered: Vegetable pakora, 8 pieces for $5.99: crispy and tasty, came with two dipping sauces Veggie momos, 8 pieces for $10.99: great filling in a wrapper of good thickness, steamed well, came with one dipping sauce Palak paneer, $13.99: my favorite. Large chunks of paneer in a hearty spinach purée that was fresh and not too oily Garlic naan, $2.99: naan of medium fluffiness with good flavor (I prefer more fluffiness, but it was still good)
We were able to split the check with our two credit cards, and I took leftovers home. By the time we left, the place had about half of its tables filled. I would recommend everything I ordered and am excited to go back to try more of their menu!
Update: I went back recently and tried their tandori roti ($3.99), tofu saag ($13.99), and their paneer tikka masala ($14.99). The tandori roti is good and can be ordered dairy-free. The tofu saag is tasty, dairy-free, and a bit spicy! And their paneer tikka masala was okay—the sauce was good, but the chunks of paneer were too big for the runniness of the tikka masala sauce. I definitely prefer the thicker texture of the palak paneer versus the thinner sauce of the palak...
