After grabbing lunch from the Presidio Pop Up food trucks, we found ourselves irresistibly drawn to the inviting red Adirondack chairs at Presidio Tunnel Tops. With the stunning backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Pacific Ocean, it was the perfect spot to savor our meal. The food trucks offered a diverse array of cuisines, reflecting the rich cultural tapestry of the Bay Area. From Filipino fusion to Singaporean delights, there was something to tantalize every palate.
Originally, we had planned to dine at Il Parco, but the allure of the food trucks led us to a spontaneous and satisfying lunch. After our meal, we decided to visit Il Parco for dessert. To our surprise, the café boasted an impressive selection of sweet treats, including various cakes, gluten-free loaf options, and an assortment of cookies. The savory offerings also caught our eye, especially the pasta prepared in a Parmesan wheel and the variety of panini and pizzas.
Though our appetites were nearly satisfied, we couldn’t resist trying a few cookies. We chose four: a walnut blueberry and two classic chocolate chip cookies. Each bite was a delightful blend of flavors, leaving us eager to return and explore more of Il Parco’s menu.
Il Parco offers a charming outdoor seating area on a covered patio, providing diners with breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Parking is conveniently available nearby for a small fee, making it easy to access both the café and the Tunnel Tops park.
Spending the day at Presidio Tunnel Tops, enjoying a mix of spontaneous and planned culinary delights, and soaking in the natural beauty, made for an unforgettable experience. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite from the food trucks or indulging in a leisurely meal at Il Parco, this area offers a perfect blend of...
Read moreWarning to Future Patrons: Il Parco's Pizza is Served Cold, and It's Not Worth It.
My friends and I chose lasagna, cheese pizza, and focaccia pizza, only to be taken aback by the fact that all our dishes were served cold. This approach to pizza service goes against the very essence of what makes pizza—pizza is intended to be heated and enjoyed with melted cheese in every bite.
I voiced my concerns to someone who was possibly the manager and informed him it was cold. He said its serving style was deliberate, meant to "preserve the qualities of certain ingredients like mozzarella cheese." When I later looked up their website, it subtly mentions "ambient temperature proofed" pizzas. How was I supposed to know? They should inform customers or change their style, since there are clearly complaints about them serving cold pizza. It's clear that the experience Il Parco offers falls short of satisfying the basic expectation of a hot, comforting meal. This sentiment was further echoed by another diner, who, like us, was disappointed by their cold pizza. For a total of $45 for three people, the value proposition here is questionable. You're essentially paying premium prices for an experience that deviates so far from the traditional pizza experience without clear justification. At this price point, you'd be much better off ordering from the food trucks just outside their building.
Il Parco is not the place. Their unique serving style, lack of upfront communication about their style, and a steep price for the experience provided makes it hard...
Read moreHorrible service, cold stale food & more expensive than 5 star restaurants! I visited this place for lunch. I grabbed a snack and drink from their fridge & walked over to the cashier. There were about 10 cashiers behind the counter & they all ignored me as I stood there for 10 minutes. The cashier (who had recently rung another customer up), was speaking broken Italian to someone who seemed like the manager. This manager spent 5 minutes trying to teach the cashier how to put a custom 'cork' on a bottle, both giving me an evil look when I politely asked if I could buy the food I had brought up to the cash register. After another 5 minutes, after the cashier had put the cork on the bottle (meanwhile, the other 9 cashiers were just talking & 'hanging' out - doing absolutely nothing) the Italian cashier finally rung me up after I had been standing at the cash register for 20 minutes! For the small cold stale pizza square, snack & soda, I paid more than an expensive meal at a restaurant. I think my total was almost $50! The service - as you can read above was as disgusting and horrible as the food - sub par in every way. Avoid this place like the plague unless you are starving to death & can't wait to go elsewhere. Also - there is a great pizza place 5 min walk from here at the East Presidio entrance where you can buy high quality HOT pizza slices for only $5. I recommend getting your meal there before heading to Presidio Tunnel Tops or just bring...
