Went to San Francisco stable but now mediocre. I haven’t eaten here in quite a while. I used to eat here a lot when I was younger. They had great food large portions and they even had a special where they would give you a free fried rice or chow mein with your order if you ordered more than I believe $30. I ordered shrimp, chow mein, salt and pepper shrimp, a vegetable deluxe and beef and broccoli, but the restaurant gave me someone else’s order which was a shrimp vegetable dish. The chow mein was so dry there was no flavors. It literally taste like bland pasta with very small shrimp. Salt and pepper shrimp was a disappointment. The shrimps were super small. They used to be prawns. There was no jalapeños, and it was slathered with red bell peppers and cabbage. Even more disappointing I didn’t receive the beef and broccoli, but whoever ordered the shrimp and plate. I probably saved their dinner because that was so sad again the shrimps were very small. They were overcooked. There wasn’t a lot of vegetables it was just. The vegetable delight was also a disappointment. Usually when you get mixed vegetable plates, there’s bok choy broccoli but this chopped up onions, bell pepper, mushroom, and bamboo. After tonight, I will definitely be taking my money elsewhere. The total of the bill was $90 which was honestly very sad for what I got. If you’re looking for Chinese food, I would definitely go elsewhere up the street. Big lantern is really good or...
Read moreCheap and fast food but not worth the poor service and hostility. I used to eat at this place almost weekly as a regular customer. There were two servers back then... a friendly lady and a mean lady. I remember always dreading the mean one ! I would tolerate the loud, hostile server who threw your plate on the table and would have screaming matches on her phone or with the kitchen staff because I liked the food and convenience. After moving out of that neighborhood I stopped going to Jade cafe but for nostalgic reasons, I took my husband there to share some food from my SF past. I was not surprised to be met with rudeness and a “you know what you want” before we sat down but I was astonished to see that it was the same mean lady that I used to dread :) I guess some things never change and sometimes they get worse. I realized that I had actually changed and that I really like to have a peacefully and respectful experience when dining so we went to Mikado next door for sushi and bento. They haven’t changed either but in the best possible way! 5 stars for Mikado! Heed my advise... skip Jade cafe and go next...
Read moreI ordered take-out via their website, paid with a credit card. Got to the restaurant, the non-english-speaking lady told me the website is broken and does not work and they don't have my food...went home, checked, my credit card confirms that I paid (including a significant tip). I called the restaurant, they seemed surprised at first, then said "Wait, your food here! Why you not pick up food??" as if I were at fault in this situation. I explained said situation to the poorly-comprehending lady on the line, she told me that it would be delivered for no charge. 15 minutes later, the delivery car pulls up (literally over the curb, onto the sidewalk, at a 45 degree to the street). The guy first demands payment for the food. I attempt to explain that everything is already paid, it was pick-up, but they screwed it up. He acquiesces, and then demands a tip for driving it over. At this point, I just literally take the food from his hands, say "I already tipped, even though I shouldn't have. Nothing but trouble!" and go inside.
Food was soaked in grease and utterly bland....
