Mo's Grill — Restaurant in San Francisco

So, back in November 2019 me and my mum were visiting from the UK. We had heard so much about the great food places in San Francisco, and how "you've got to have the pizza", well I swear we walked for miles, but every pizza place had a queue out the door, after an hour or so, we just wanted something to eat.

We had seen the famous "eat at Joe's" restaurant (where we also got to see the firemen of SF as they got called to a job there, if you YouTube "life with bev San Francisco" you can watch my adventure) and we saw a little sign down this side street saying "eat at Mo's". We were looking at the menu outside and that amazing fire grill in the window, when a lady came out and said "that is the BEST meatloaf I've ever had". They had no queue, their prices were really reasonable, so let's try... Boy am I glad we did!

My mum got a steak and I got a burger. As soon as we came through the door we were seated, it's not a massive restaurant, but our waitress gave us water straight away and when our food came, it wasn't just because I was hungry, but even my mum tried my burger and we agreed, it was one of the best burgers ever. Like, genuinely, I've never had a burger like it! So juicy, full of flavour and cooked to perfection! My mum's steak was cooked perfectly and the taste was to die for!

Honestly, I know this place is set back from the main roads, but you are missing out if you don't have a meal here! The service is amazing and the food is even better!

It was so good that 6 years on, I still remember the restaurant name, with a promise to myself that if I ever got the chance, me and my mum would go back and eat...

What more can I say?!

I've been a Mo's Grill client for over 20 years; possibly very close to 25. Time flies, doesn't it?! My original review on yelp in 2015 and the following 85 check-ins are testaments to the fact that I love their food.

I remember a time when all I ordered were omelets. They are made with fresh ingredients and three eggs, so bring an empty stomach! Then I switched to the Breakfast Burrito! That sucker is HUGE, but every single bite is worth the calories you will consume! There is so much good stuff in this big bubba that I am not even going to try!

I have also gone through my burger and salad phase! Over the years I have literally tried every single burger on their menu! My favorites burgers are Bacon Burger, BBQ Burger, Tex-Mex Burger, Western Burger and Volcano Burger! If I had to pick one, I'd go with the very basic Best Burger. The meat is high quality and the patty is not tin like you see in many places. And my friends, please do NOT forget the fries!

Over the last couple of years I have grown kind of their steaks too! Their steak and eggs is my favorite Sunday brunch item now! What better way to start your Sunday with a great steak and eggs and a couple of good cups of coffee?

The crew there are fantastic! I now know every single one of them by name (They all have been there for a long time) and enjoy chatting with them every time we visit.

Have I convinced you yet?! Well, don't take my word for it, just visit and try a burger, steak or an omelet and judge...

We ordered burgers on 4th of July and were going to watch the fireworks. We asked for the burgers to be well done, no pink or red. We also asked for no salt on the fries. When I picked up the order, they ensured me that the burgers were well done and there was no salt on the fries. The burgers were red and almost raw inside. The fries were also full of salt. We called Mo,'s back, but they had already closed. We ended up throwing the food away. It was inedible. We were really upset because they ruined our 4th of July plans.

We spoke to Ricardo the next day. He told us that he would get in touch with the manager, Hussein to give us a refund. We texted pictures to Ricardo. We never heard anything back. So a few days later, we called again. Ricardo had never checked the pictures. After he looked at the pics, he told us that they were the same burger although they were of two different burgers!

We kept trying to reach Hussein, the manager, but he was never there. Finally after a couple of weeks we reached Ricardo. He didn't want to give us a refund, but he finally said he would, but not for the salty fries. Instead of giving us a refund, he charged us again!!! We called him back and he told us that we would have to wait until this cleared and then he would give us the refund. Eventually, after about a month, we received the refund.
