I suppose Per Diem is owed a review, given the numerous times I've been here now (including the times I don't entirely remember anymore either). But, much like Garaje was a Klout favorite, Per Diem is a Lithium favorite: in fact, I've yet to come here without coworkers! I've also yet to ever spend my own money, but that's a different matter.
The alcohol is pretty solid, so I'll just leave it at that. The food though? Mixed, ranging from okay, to pretty damn delicious. So, come here, grab some drinks, make sure to order the right dishes, and you'll leave content!
So, what's good, or even great, here? Going from appetizers to mains: their happy hour cheese board, the burrata and honey on bread, the pork belly roulade (which seemed more like an entree than an appetizer), and the duck breast.
How about the rest? Well, the brussels sprouts are tasty, but a bit too sweet; the flatbread changes up every so often and isn't bad; the oysters are too briny for my tastes; the swordfish has great flavor, but is on the dry side; and the lamb is also just okay.
Accessibility Info
Venue - A fairly large space, but with limited accessible seating: Their upstairs isn't accessible, and much of the downstairs consists of bar seating, high tops, or booths. I don't recall what the back of the restaurant looks like, but there are about four or five tables up front that are actually accessible.
Bathroom - Didn't try them (or, at least, I don't remember...
Read moreWhat an unfortunate experience. I will first caveat that the food was edible and our waiter, excellent. I was part of a party of 4 who spent over 100$ per person. About thirty seconds after receiving our last round of drinks - with a dessert that had just arrived to the table, a restaurant employee told us they had a party waiting for our table and we needed to pay our check and leave. Mind you - our drinks were full to the brim as they had just arrived at the table. Though taken aback, we did our best to politely inform her that we had just received our drinks so this wasn’t an appropriate time to be practically kicking us out. Within minutes, a second employee came up to the table and asked if we could at the very least move elsewhere - at this point we were rushing to finish our drinks so we could leave as the experience was ruined. After both occurrences, our waiter apologized and asked us to take our time. At no point when ordering drinks or dessert were we told people were waiting or we should try to hurry along. It felt a bit like a scam to be served full drinks and then immediately be made to feel guilty for being there. Disclaimer: we were seated upstairs so we were unaware people were waiting. There are better restaurants that will take accountability for their overbooking vs put it on customers and perhaps be a bit more polite to some high...
Read more1 star for the bigger built Caucasian guy that was at the front desk who made me feel very UNCOMFORTABLE and UNWELCOME at the restaurant.
Firstly, I asked for a table of two and said I had a reservation. And when He wasn’t able to find it, I asked him if he can check again which he proceeded to scoff at my request and gave me an attitude as he led me to my table.
Secondly, When he came by to pour water, I shifted my glass closer to him so that he didn’t have to reach. But in doing so he spilled a drop of water and he acted as if I had done such a terrible thing to have caused him to spill, clearly showing his annoyance and irritation on his face, which made me feel so uncomfortable and unwelcome at the restaurant.
The rest of the service staff were...
