The worst service I have ever had ever! My partner and I showed up for Sunday brunch excited by the bay view they offered, there were people there but it wasn't packed so we file in. The hostess took us to a table and said a server would be with us shortly, we sat and waited and about 20 minutes later the hostess came back and asked if we had gotten any drinks, the answer being no we hadn't even seen our server. All the while people are being sat around us a server is going over and getting them drinks, taking their orders and bringing them food while we are sitting here. We watched people who got there after us get their food, eat it and leave before we even got to order. About 40 minutes into breakfast the hostess came and took our order (still haven't seen our server) the food wasn't very good; the potatoes were bland and flavorless, the sausage was sour tasting, the bacon was burnt to a crisp and my over easy eggs were over hard, we hardly managed to eat a few bites as we were so put off by the food and service. No one asked why we only ate a few bites and returned full plates to the kitchen. Finally after about an hour and a half our server comes to give us the check and that was the only time we saw her except watching her provide what looked like decent service to the tables surrounding us. Unacceptable service really and truly a disappointing experience. I would never go back and would strongly recommend going elsewhere for breakfast/brunch.
UPDATE:
After receiving a response from the owner who invited us back to try again
I wanted to thank you for the apology, I'm sure it's not how the regular operation runs, we chose to eat there because of all the good reviews. Sadly we were visiting San Fransisco and probably won't be returning for a while. Thanks anyway...
Read moreI made reservations a couple months back for our first dinner in SF. Although it's a casual place, based on my research, it seemed like a popular neighborhood and tourist spot and I knew after driving up from OC we didn't want to wait to eat on a busy Friday evening.
Upon arrival, it didn't seem too crowded. Busy but there were still plenty of open tables and spots at the bar. I initially requested patio seating but my husband and son didn't want to be outside as it was slightly balmy. We were seated close to the windows instead to enjoy the view of the Bay Bridge.
We ordered the following:
French Onion Soup: very good. Nice and cheesy, could use maybe some more bread underneath but it was solid.
Buffalo Wings: these come sauced and were really tasty! Still had a nice crunch and bite to it even though they were very saucy.
Fish & Chips: great batter on the fish, which was very meaty and flaky. Standard fries, forgettable coleslaw (does anyone even eat the coleslaw?)
Chicken BLTA: husband said this was fine. Tastes as expected!
Kids' Chicken Tenders: not sure if these are the same tenders on the regular menu but my son ate it all up and had no complaints.
Apple Brown Betty: this was a cinnamon apple crumble pie w/ vanilla ice cream on top. Very rice and delicious!
Strawberry Cake: this was literally the same cake you can get at Ralph's/Safeway, etc. They must all get it from the same supplier! Still good but def not made in-house.
Total for dinner (including 3 glasses of wine, a Shirley Temple, a coffee, and tax/tip) was $205.
Service was very good. Our server came by often enough and was always pleasant.
Note - we entered the restaurant through the Hotel Griffon on Steuart Street. I think there might be an entrance on the...
Read moreI was really looking forward to coming here for brunch/lunch one weekend, since I really enjoy the other one I've been to in Design District. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the overall experience.
Location: Excellent location. Walking distance from BART, MUNI, or other transit options. Great view of the water if you're close enough to the window or if you're sitting outside; however, it does get noisy from the constant street traffic. It wasn't busy when I went, so it was easy to get a table without a reservation or anything.
Price: Since it is close to Embarcadero, I did expect it to be pricier based on location alone, so it wasn't a surprise. But it was still a little irksome based on the value.
Food: The food was meh overall. The Perry's burger with avocado was superb, just like I remember it from the other Perry's location. The side salad was wilted and didn't taste that fresh though. My bf had the Chorizo Scramble (which was on the menu in the restaurant but is missing from the online menu). For the price, there wasn't much food and the food that was there tasted kinda bland.
Service: The service was fine when we were able to get attention. Even though we were sitting next to the kitchen/service area (which, by the way, was noisy and disruptive as expected), it was difficult to get the server's attention.
Overall, the experience was just okay. The next time I have an inkling for brunch/lunch I will probably take my...
