Pier 14 wasn't established when Stephen Lee Cropper and Otis Redding were writing the lyrics for (Sittin’ on) The Dock of the Bay, but it is a popular spot among visitors today. Located between the Bay Bridge and the Ferry Building, it primarily serves as a pedestrian walkway. Nowadays, you can also see scooters, bikes, skateboards, and more everywhere!

The pier extends far out into the bay, offering stunning views of the city skyline, the Bay Bridge, and Yerba Buena Island. On a clear day, you can even see the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance.

The pier is a favorite place for locals and tourists alike to take a stroll, enjoy the fresh air, and take in the beautiful sights. The observation pier is an excellent place to get morning photographs of some of the skyline of San Francisco. I have found it is best to get here in the mornings on a weekend by 8am. For one parking is plentiful and you can get right up to it. Also the tourists and resident have not opened up yet, so you can get some great photographs without the crowds in them.
