Well Yelp removed my review because the bar owner must have paid them off. That's okay, I'll add it everywhere else.
Just moving to Noe, I was looking for a good bar to make my own. A place that brought the community together. A place to make friends. Unfortunately, the bartender at the Dubliner wanted to make sure that I did not come back. She succeeded.
First and foremost, I have never written a review. Not a good one, not a bad one. I have no desire to force feed others my opinion on where they should or should not do business. However, I can't sit by and condone bullying. This is why I'm writing this review.
With that being said; last week I decided to stop by the Dubliner for my second time. (the first time was uneventful and pleasant. The English bartender serving me that afternoon was very attentive and funny. ) As I took my seat at the bar, I noticed although the bar was about half full, there was no bartender behind the counter. I waited... and waited... and waited. I joked to the person next to me that "it looks like half the bar has an empty glass". (even though it was not really a joke.) Finally a blonde haired lady got behind the counter. She asked some gentlemen at the end of the bar if they needed a drink (although none of them had empty glasses). She glanced down the bar, I made eye contact and smiled. She didn't smile and did not acknowledge I was waiting for a drink. I waited... and waited... and waited. About 5 minutes into it, she came and asked me what she could get for me. I ordered a beer and set back to watch the game.
As I was watching the game, I noticed that the bartender was hanging out at the end of the bar with the gentlemen I noticed from earlier..(ignoring the empty glasses at the bar or the people that just walked in) I then heard her tell someone, "that idiot is playing music again." referring to a red haired girl at the jukebox. She then asked one of them to go play some music. (I guess something she approved)
Disgusted by her attitude, I asked for my check. She told me I'd have to pay cash as they don't allow cc's for 1 drink purchases. I told her the fact I only had one drink was due to her lack of attention. I would have been happy to order more but I'd been waiting so long, I had to leave. She didn't care and I ended up having to spend $3.50 to get $20 at an ATM for a $4.25 drink. What a joke.
So this is why I'm writing my first and hopefully last review. It's a real shame that what looks like a great place to make friends, is bartended by someone who isn't interested in doing her job. For this, I can't recommend and will not be...
Read moreAbsolutely so sad that this place was ruined by one bartender. As someone who has been intimately involved with the bar service industry, I am very disappointed that the bartender named franchesca was so inconsiderate and unprofessional. When we ordered three drinks, she took her time getting them but of course we tipped her accordingly. After 30 minutes when I asked her for three glasses of water for our party of three, she responded " we are in a drought I'm only giving you two" and filled up two plastic cups halfway. I was so appalled. This of course, was after she had managed to put all of the tops on the liquor bottles on the shelves. And made me wait for Her to complete the task. Had she asked me politely if it was OK for her to finish, I of course would have said yes out of politeness. But the fact that she made us wait and then did not serve me the full amount of water that I had requested, I was absolutely astounded. She defended herself when questioned about it saying that she has done this for over six years. I have always had a pleasant experience at the Dubliner, but I will not be coming back because of franchesca. As a family of Bartender's in San Francisco, I was mortified that she was representing our city. She must really be going through a horrible life in order to treat a customer with such disrespect when requesting water, especially...
Read moreThis is a proper old school Irish Pub. I went to watch Game 3 of Warriors vs Cavs and it was amazing to say the least. Despite the overwhelming crowd, the servers were very attentive to us. Looks like this place is really popular among the Noe Valley residents since the bartender knew most people by their first names. We had a couple of Guinesses and the Magnum Red Cider. Prices were pretty reasonable at $6.50 a pint.
Not sure if they had any food but they were super chill about getting pizza from nearby Patxi`s, which was awesome.
Would definitely come here again to grab a quick drink next time in the Noe Valley...
