while it's still on the pallette... 10/10 first of all LOL
I had an idea of what I was getting myself into but I left a bit of a surprise. I initially thought it was coffee cake in the LITERAL sense, which would've turned me off, but as I've learned with the American language, don't take things literally ahehehe
This is a coffee accompaniment to be precise. The crunchy topping is of caramelized sugar: airy, light, crispy (crunchy). The light and delicate crumb of the cake is simple and grasps the candy with the whipped cream layers in-between.
$6 is perfectly priced. It's just enough to share for 2 if you're not a sweet tooth (but it's honestly not that sweet, it's extremely balanced) but delightfully indulgent for one.
You can still move around and dance around the city after this slice, and still want another sweet to close the evening.

It's always a good idea to go there early since I have gone after noon and the slices of the cake are sold out. Well, lemme tell ya... well-deserved!!! When we arrived (about 30 minutes from closing time), they only had 2 slices left. They lady began to apologize, and I told her not to worry about it... we'll just take both of whatever that is! See pics - one chocolate roll and the other some sort of "crunch cake" per the IG post I saw. Both were phenomenal!!! Delicate cake with lovely flavors and the perfect amount of sweetness! They are a small Japanese bakery inside of a Japanese grocery store. I'm so happy to know about them and will definitely visit again during my next trip to San Francisco. Just know, I have a small bakery in North Carolina and I'm very particular about dessert! This was...
