Should have read updated reviews. Since when did this place become so cheap and crappy? Why the heck do you even need 3 servers when there are not even 3 tables served at a time?!? Instead of wasting money on overstaffing, maybe improve your service!! I have been going here for years because it's the closest Korean place in the area. And I actually had decent experience here. I havent been here for a few months but now its a guaranteed never.
We took our relatives from Texas so she can try Bay Area Korean food. I should have gone to Tobang. Came in when there was 1 table eating, and 3 servers standing. We were welcomed and seated as usual.
We have a party of 6. We ordered 5 plates. They gave us 2 sets of ban chan and each plates literally have 3 pieces. 3 pieces of kim chi, 3 pieces of potato and so on. That is the first WTF. But we had food so we werent too bothered.
While we were eating, the servers stood in the corner watching us eat. It was the most uncomfortable meal I have had. And honestly I looked at them, they dont even look happy. Thats what they get for overstaffing. Servers have nothing better to do!! WTF #2.
We finished both sets of banchan and asked them for refill. They gave us 1 refill and said they cannot do any more refill than this because it is the policy that you can only get refills when the plates you order is the same as the number of people on the table?! I call bullshit. I have 6 people, we ordered 5 plates. Seriously? So if I split my party into a party of 2, we would have 3 sets. If we all went in individually and sit at different table, we would each have 1 set. You know ALL korean restaurants around this area, ban chan is free refill!! It has always been so. At Tobang, I asked for 1 refill, they gave me tripple of what I wanted-not that I suggest so but they made my day for being so nice. Thats customer service!! This is bullshit. WTF #3. I literally yelled out when I heard they explaining the rules. My bf calmed me down bc he said its not the servers' fault. Probably the owner made them do so.
3 strikes, I'm out. Bottom line, go to El Camino Real, where the real Korean food is. This place is crappy now. You lost some loyal customers (3+ years) just for being sooo cheap. No matter how close I live nearby....
Read moreI took my parents, wife and our eight-month son out Saturday evening for dinner.
The girl working at this place greeted us with a mean face, without a smile. She pointed us to a table for four and tried to squeezed five of us in even though there were two other tables that can accommodate up to six people. The problem is the place was not that crowded that she had to squeeze us in like that.
After explaining to her, she agreed to move us to a bigger table. I swear to god we had not seated for five minutes and she came out from the kitchen asking me to move my son's stroller to a corner so that she can getting drinks from the refrigerator.
I asked her why it was so much trouble with my son's stroller. She simply answered "YOU CAN LEAVE IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT"
Unbelievable, this girl is the RUDEST waitress I have even seen. My family was shocked and we just left even though an older woman came out trying to apologize. We went to the Tofu House in Milpitas which was much much better in regard to the food and customer service.
Long story short:
if you have children with you, do not go to this place because it is not family-friendly.
If you want to take you girl or boyfriend out for dinner, do not go to this place unless you want to be served by a rude waitress who may ruin you evening.
If you and your friends want to get to something to eat, then do not go to this place because the atmosphere is so depressing just by the look on the face of the girl working here.
I will definitely not go to this...
Read moreSo this is my first time coming here, decided, to try something new and bring my wife out for Mother's Day. My wife ordered Jab Chae which has clear noodles that are rubbery, it states beef but it might be an ounce or 2 of meat in the whole dish, I ordered the spicy pork bowl which is good if you can eat it, you literally have to wait 5 to 10 minutes before eating, and the young lady serving needs some customer service classes because she is very rude, her facial expressions speak volumes when you walk in, and to top it all off both of my kid's plates had black hair in the food, the cook came out and complained that it was because of my wife mistakenly ordering a noodle plate that clearly states beef because we asked why was there so little meat. I'll never...
