This review is primarily for their new Mediterranean Bowl Bar. I work nearby so have stopped at this quaint cafe to pick up a pastry in the past. I noticed the other day that they had some new Mediterranean Salad Bowl so I went in to check it out. Turns out, they just started doing a Chipotle-style build your bowl. The lady who helped me was so nice and walked me through all the options. All of the ingredients are homemade fresh there and I must say, I was very impressed. You get to pick a base, main, 3 dips, toppings, and a dressing. I opted for 1/2 quinoa/greens, 1/2 chicken/grilled veggies, hummus, tzatziki, feta, pickled onions, cabbage, pickles, olives. For dressing, I tried the creamy garlic. The bowl size was huge and everything was delicious!
It’s a small place, so seating can be a little limited, but definitely will be back to pickup another salad bowl. It’s so nice to have another healthy bowl option in the area that offers fresh ingredients. I hope they continue...
Read moreI recently stopped by SJSU to relive my collegiate memories and stumbled across La Lune. Hungry and wanting some caffeine, I went in to give this place a shot.
Upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised with the warm greeting by every employee. While ordering, we all had a nice conversation and discovered the staff are fellow Spartans. Definitely feels like I'm amongst friends and just not a restaurant.
As for the food? I had a double dose of strawberries: a strawberry crepe and strawberry matcha. Both pastry and drink have just the right amount of sweetness and are not overly sweet. No lingering aftertastes nor sugar overdose feeling, which is a very good thing!
Before leaving, I chatted with the staff. The current owners recently acquired this establishment and are making adjustments and evolving their menu. I look forward to trying out more of La Lune's offerings and for more good times &...
Read moreI used to LOVE this place! And was excited when they re-opened. I don't know if it has to do with new ownership, but the food was not the same in terms of quality. I ordered their avocado TOAST with a POACHED egg on top. I even asked the cashier if the yolk would be runny, and she said yes. I got my toast.... which turned out to be a sandwich. Two pieces of wheat, sliced bread, hardly toasted, smooshed together with hardly mashed avocado and a HARD-BOILED egg that was cold and cooked all the way through in between. When I said something about it, she took it back, and brought it back out saying, "...we found one." What? They replaced it with a softer, but still cooked through, hard boiled egg... in sandwich form still. I'm not one to leave reviews or complain about food, but I was so disappointed. Especially because I used to LOVE coming to eat here. And how do you mess up...
