Initial walking by it was closed and it looked sketchy and ran down looking at outside appearance. They had a long chain lock blocking door so customers can't just walk in. So my fiance and I did a walk back and decided to try it because of the seafood option. We were hungry and ordered fish tacos, crab tacos, grilled chicken with rice and beans. We had a few good tropical breeze drinks with Don q included. Decent drink price and it was served true Caribbean style with cherries, orange slice and lime. This was our first meal on the strip after traveling for hrs. Waitress was great. Server was snotty and unlikable. I'm assuming she was intimidated being We look like celebrities walking in. We were the second people to sit down being it just opened. Initial the food was great reminded us of back home our big city style restaurants. Bill was 90 we tiped 18.00. Ok gave it a try the next day. Totally different as most restaurants switch up the food taste 2nd time around. Tacos were cold and soggy. Another 60 bucks spent. Ok we said let's try one more time third day pick up order. Another 60 bucks. Grilled chicken was cold, soggy and had black rotten colors on bottom. Tacos were soggy again and white rice and beans were cold and tasted completely different again. I immediately called restaurant to make order again. 10 mins of calling no answer. How I just left and did my order on the phone for pick up. Now I'm pissed being we spent almost two hundred dollars there in three days and my food is off again. Now I leave my hotel suite to go back there to complain and return food. I showed them the rotten mis color chicken and soggy crab Tacos. No remake please here's the food just refund my money back. I was going to leave a great review after the first day but they blew that with 2 orders being completely off and bad. Should have spent our money elsewhere. Never again. Getva better chef who makes consistent tasteful food. Not just throwing orders together to get them out the door.My employees in San juan will never order during the week for lunch or diner. They lost hundreds of dollars a week from us now. Best to eat in early before the get busy like most places. The food quality and quantity goes down when places get busy. They don't care just want your money and will serve you anything. They didn't pick up my call because they knew we were calling to complain about order. I fixed them and showed up. I'm a foodie and great cook myself. I will not allow restaurants to serve anything to me and let them get away with taking our hard earned money with terrible food for take out. Hard to find good food on the strip or at the hotels. The pinchos and burgers at the beach was probably the best we had and least expensive!! I'm giving 1 star for the first day food taste. The other workers there get a 0 for not even saying hello to new customers first time there. Talk about feeling discriminated against. If your not Spanish this is not the place to go. True story. You...
Read moreWe had a late arrival to the island so by the time we got our rental and dropped off our luggage it was nearly 9pm so we looked for the first location that was still open. We came across Cayo Blanco.
We were a party of four and had no problem finding seating. However, the dining area is small and I can see a long wait time during peak dining hours. It’s also warm in there not sure if the air conditioning was working.
For cocktails we ordered spicy margaritas which were very good. For tapas we ordered the spicy calamari and the scallops. The calamari was good, the right amount of spice, not too overpowering. The scallops were slightly in the chewy side but the sauce they came in was amazing.
For the main dishes we shared the halibut filet, mahi mahi, skirt steak, and Mofongo stuffed with skirt steak. The halibut filet paired with mashed potatoes was good but on the border of being overcooked. Could not say the same for the mahi mahi which was definitely overcooked. Normally you can flake off a piece with a fork instead of actually having to use a knife to cut which was the case here. It did not melt in your mouth we had to chew on it for a while. The skirt steak was also tough. We ordered it medium rare and it came out well done. The Mofongo was good but the skirt steak inside was also tough so it ruined it for us. Not sure if the quality of the food was not good because it was late in the evening but for what we paid we were...
Read moreThis is the first time I have been to Puerto Rico and when we checked in at La Concha Ernesto at the desk recommended Cayo Blanco. And let me tell you he was spot on. The seafood there is so good we had dinner there two nights in a row. The first night we ate there we shared the Pasta Mare (unfortunately I forgot to take a picture). It was delicious and the reason we went back. The Pasta Mare has shrimp, mussels, scallops calamari and tiger prawns and you have the option to have it with marinara or alfredo sause. We chose marinara sauce. The second night we ordered the fried red snapper and the paella for one. And let me tell you that combination was over the top. The red snapper was huge and it was cooked to perfection. You could take a fork and just flake the meat right off the bone. The snapper comes with your choice of a garlic or creole sauce to dip the snapper in. My lady chose the garlic sauce. The fish was delicious without the sauce. But when you dipped it in the sauce it took the fish to a totally new experience. The red snapper was served with fried plantains. The coup de grace was having it with the paella for one. The paella consisted of rice, shrimp, calamari, fish, mussels, and scallops. If there are two of you I really, really, really, recommend ordering this combination. Overall this is a must try restaurant if you ever get the opportunity to visit San...
