i normally don’t write reviews for cafe, but the amt of people that love this cafe is just mindblowing. yes, the food’s good. pastries are good, service is okay, atmosphere is good, but this is not a specialty coffee shop. this is just the same as sbux but a bit overpriced.
always hires college kids that don’t know anything abt coffee. asked about pour over using chemex/v60 and they had no single clue at all. ordered the pour over and it was extremely astringent and sour. way under extracted. the kettle wasn’t preheated before pouring.
they use ek43 grinder which has to be purged before grinding. no one knows what went into that grinder and that thing always has to be purged before making any coffee unless you’re grinding back to back with the same setting and same beans.
the milk drinks are also mid. latte art is very acceptable and not pretty at all. espresso is meh, and i’d say theyre using a blend and not using high quality beans.
pls stop saying this is a specialty coffee shop bc they’re not. this is just your regular coffee shop that’s a bit overpriced. pls go to field day instead.
this review is based off of my 3 years experience coming here once in awhile. not just one exprience.
also, can’t help but notice every time i go there, it’s almost always white ladies on the counter/barista. a little...
Read moreIf you ever imagined yourself approaching a rather attractive person and asking them on a date to grab a cup of coffee, this is the place to take them. That is only if you want to impress. Free wifi, plenty of seats, ambient music, large coffee bar, simple yet plentiful menu, excellent staff, great service, do I need to go on? Yes I do.
The coffee here is pricey, no doubt about that. This place makes Starbucks® look like a McDonald's®. That being said, I do believe, as frugal as I am, that this place is worth it. I secede that Scout Coffee's® method of asking for a tip on top of an expensive cup of Joe is overkill, especially when your tip is asked for via their point-of-sales machine up front while purchasing your beverage. What about when you tip $3 and don't end up getting a $3 tip worth service?
Regardless, despite the pricing, I still remain to what I originally stated, this is a great place to get inspired while sipping on coffee. If you are into Instagramming every meal and moment, this location has great natural lighting as well as a chic, city style decor along with an industrial twist. Whatever vibe you are going for, there is a wall for it here. Ask somebody on a date and bring them here. Ten bucks to knock her socks off?...
Read moreAh, Scout Coffee Co. This review is based off my now several visits. I am intrigued by people's fascination with this place because honestly its not that great if you compare it with other places. Even Starbucks seems better in my honest opinion.
Pros:
The vibe/music is better than starbucks crappy music Interesting cupware The open space is nice but limits seating Big windows provide nice views/natural light Most staff are friendly or cool Wifi seems good so far Location next to Lassens and across from Rite Aid creates possibilities to eat and buy doodads
Cons:
Buy something or you may be asked to leave (even if few people are there) No electrical outlets is a major incovenience and the main reason I would go elsewhere Pricey i.e. an 8 ounce glass of almond milk is $3.50 Almond milk tastes watered down which is not good considering its made in house Hard sitting chairs/benches provide for uncomfortable visits and the few comfortable looking chairs are also uncofortable Needs more places to sit No mirror in bathroom is lame Too many...
