I am a Huge Fan of BBQ!!!!! We went here on a suggestion from a good friend of ours. When we walked in the restaurant was empty? I thought that was a bit odd. However we did not have to wait in line. Looked at the menu ordered what we wanted, I ordered the Pastrami and Tri-Tip platter, I asked the cashier if I could get the rarest meat available, and for the Pastrami the have the end pieces with the crunchy bark on the meat. My husband Ordered Baby Back Ribs and Tri-Tip platter, he asked for his Tri-Tip to be rare as well. We were very disappointed when we got home from G-Brothers Smokehouse. First the Tri-Tip was well done, and the Baby Back ribs they only gave him 2, they advertise that with the platter you get 1/2 rack of ribs plus they were cold, the Bone's were ice cold, no doubt Leftovers. The Pastrami was not fresh at all, it was reheated as well, I got this big chunk of burnt fat no meat, as well as my Tri-Tip was well done. I really appreciate the food that I receive every day. And feel blessed that I can have such wonderful meal....This BBQ WASN'T VERY GOOD. I HOPE THAT YOU HAVE A BETTER EXPERIENCE...
Read moreThe best BBQ in SLO by a country mile. I've been coming here for a better part of a decade and it doesn't get much better than the brisket plate. They make their own sauces and smoke all of their own meats. Sure there are a few more popular places in SLO for BBQ closer to town, but G-Brothers is the real McCoy.
EDIT: With the pandemic and inflation hitting this place to adjust their hours and prices accordingly (as with most places), I just went there again today (March 6, 2023) and I have to say while times have affected us all, the quality and service of G-Brothers is better now than it's been in the 12 years I've been coming here and it's always been excellent. BBQ is pricey no matter where you go but there are few places that can give you a truly authentic, local experience. There are a few places on Higuera Street that people always flock to but I think G-Brothers is the best. That brisket plate I had for lunch was truly outstanding in every way. This place deserves to be a long standing institution in San Luis Obispo and I'll keep...
Read moreThis place is terrible. I saw that they had brisket in a Menu's rag. I decided, that me being an Okie, would go there and try it out. Most of my sliced brisket was FAT. Gross. Trim it. It also tasted like it was boiled before smoked. I couldn't figure out was the smoke was. I'm guessing electric smoker with turd chips. No bark whatsoever. Terrible. The beans, eh.... Coleslaw, eh... Their main bbq sauce was okay. I'm a Carolina style guy, so I tried their Carolina bbq sauce. Looked a little watery. Tried it and all it is, is there regular bbq sauce with vinegar added. Gross... and extremely lazy. I'm not going to mention I had to shoo away flies the entire time I was there. Small portions as well. Don't waste your money here. Decor was cool! That where they get my one star...
