My partner and I went for the grand opening and was really excited about it! The vibe and design of the truck is really cool. When we arrived 1/3 of the menu was unavailable and we ended up waiting over an hour (I wish I were exaggerating here) for two drinks. We did not get what we ordered because they ran out of the drinks but they did not let us know. So we ended up getting two of the same drink with no Boba in it. They did not let us know that boba was unavailable at a certain point. The thing that is most disappointing to us is the fact that the person who seemed like the owner was not with the staff, who were obviously hired to run the truck, but struggling to keep up with demand. it was frustrating to see him chatting with other people and on his phone instead of supporting the staff, mingling with customers, and apologizing for the long wait and shortage of supplies. The drink was mediocre, and up til now I have no idea what the flavors were supposed to be. Will not return.
This icing on the cake was when we finally got our drinks, the person serving the drink stated that they had no idea it was going to be this busy……. for their...

Matcha Strawberry Milk Tea: Literally just got a pink milk tea drink. We had to ask if there was actually matcha in it because literally no green at all. Usually you get to see a mix of green and pink....this one, all pink. (see pic) And way too sweet even at the low sweet level. Vietnamese Coffee: Undrinkable. Literally....it went into the trash bin. Everything about this drink was disgusting. Just don't get this. Lavender Black Tea: Even at the low sweet level it was way too sweet. And I barely tasted anything....I felt like I was drinking sugar water with a splash of lavender flavor. Boba: Completely flavorless. Like no joke.....had zero flavor. Possibly over cooked because it was too mushy in texture.
I'm a boba freak and I go to every single boba place in this town and I was looking forward to an alternative to Teapioca down south. This place was a major disappointment....the worst boba place I've been to. Some people seem to love this place, it was just not my cup of tea. ...
Read moreI was so excited when Buda got a boba place. I've tried boba everywhere in the area and am a huge fan. However Howdy Boba is a disappointment and I have given them multiple chances. The flavors are one-note, artificial and I'm sorry but...just not good quality. The milk tea tastes just like watered down powder and the fruit tea is not fresh or natural tasting. The boba itself is always slimy. The drinks are always served at room temp if not almost warm (the temp of the drink will melt your ice making it even more diluted). I don't know what kind of vendors, products, or recipes they're using but I think it's time for a change. Maybe take some notes from other boba tea shops in the area that make great drinks. Last time I came here, I spent about $15 on 2 drinks that went straight down the drain because both were awful. I hate to be harsh on a small business but people should know they may very likely waste their money here. I will be hoping that some changes are made and this place reaches...
