when i walked in around noon (051017), the place had franchise written all over. gathering my bearings, there is a separate dining area with a tv perched on the south west corner. Giants were playing the Mets in Queens, but the tv was tuned to ESPN. Giants win 6-5 ... back to the food.
ordering was simple, but the cashier asked a bunch of "selling" questions like do i have a "shore" card. she spoke so fast i could not understand her. selling first time customers is not the way to build customers or gain repeat business.
i ordered a giant 17 with a 20 oz Aquafina totaling $18.68--dining in. no requests, just straight off the menu board.
meat was dry with no grease at all. grease enhances flavor in my view. white cheese was non existent. bread was not dense, but flakey with no consistency. you could tell everything was weighed and measured. wonder if their establishment in 1956 weighed and measured everything?
i killed this "giant" 17 in about a minute leading me to this review.
moving on to the latrine (before i ate). you had to ask for a key which was attached to a car license plate. can you imagine the germs?!?! inside their latrine was spotless. i left the key hanging in the lock while inside, using a large fold of paper towel to return it to the counter.
and as a sidenote, their latrine is smack right in the center between the dining area and the ordering counter, almost slapping you in the face when you walk in. man oh man ...!
two stars. hey, peter cancro,...
Read moreI was standing in line at the new sandwich place. I think I was second in line the guy was making sandwiches there's only one worker. A guy comes in a black kid in his 20s he was a maintenance worker out front or something like that somewhere came in to use the bathroom. The worker starts yelling at him that the bathrooms are for customers only and as he's quickly almost into the bathroom already the guy throws up his hands and starts running from around that behind the counter for when he's making sandwiches to go chase the guy into the bathroom. I was like OMG, I can't believe it. If a guy's about to make me sandwiches I don't want to see him fighting with some guy in the bathroom. I said something like I think the guy can use my bathroom pass I'm not going to use the bathroom I'm buying something but I decided not to buy anything decided never to go back there again. I found out later from someone else that the one worker the only worker that was making sandwiches was the owner. That's the saint Mateo Jersey Mike's across the street from Hillsdale Mall. There's a Subway two more blocks...
