Cafe 4040 — Restaurant in San Rafael

Excellent food. My friend had a Reuben - it was large and reportedly delicious. I had a chicken pesto crepe which I had to take part of home with me even though I was tempted to eat the entire thing.

Nice selection of breakfast and lunch items.

Marked down one star because it gets so warm in here with the afternoon sun. There is a very small shady spot...

I LOVE this place. It is bright and warm with the perfect sunbeams landing in just the right spots. The menu is very accommodating for vegetarians, and the food is delicious. This morning I went with the falafel wrap. There are milk alternative options - even soy! There is ample indoor and outdoor seating, wifi available and the service...

The only reason it's not a 5 is that it's hard to find and there is no real signage.

The staff is very friendly and their recommendations were accurate.

I had #4 crispy chicken sandwich. It was quite good.

I also got chips and a large smart water.

All in about $13, a good price.

Worth the effort...
