Fat Maddie's Grille — Restaurant in San Ramon

One of our go to places for a quick not to quick meal. In other words, quicker than a regular restaurant, but still with great food. I had the half crab sandwich with soup, which happened to be beef barley. You get a lot of crab meat in the 1/2 sandwich. The bread is toasted with a lot of butter. Beef barley soup with delicious but realize that the serving is smaller than a cup in case you are a big eater. The sandwich can also come as 1/2 crab and 1/2 shrimp too. You order at the counter and then sit down and the food is brought to you. Everyone there from the cashier to the waiter to the cooking staff are very nice. You can watch the cooking staff cook your meal if you want. I prefer to sit at the table and drink my Maui Maui IPA beer which also is mildly bitter but has a whiff of pineapple and mango in it. I’m sorry I forgot to take pictures, but we were in a hurry. The restaurant closes at 8:30. We got in shortly after 8 o’clock, ordered, got our meal, and left before 830 just to let you know how fast the service is. Now I have been there for lunch and it was quite full so don’t expect service to be as quick but the food is consistently good. My other favorite meal is the bread bowl with clam chowder...

This is the best place to get an awesome tasty burger! It's not super fatty, it doesn't have a gamey taste and they cook to your preferred doneness level. Prices are good..fries and portion sizes are generous. They have kids options as well. Fountain drinks, bottles and also beer on tap if u like. I upgraded my fries to garlic fries with blu cheese crumbles and my husband did the same but with feta, to die for! I got a jalepno burger...and it was deliciously spicy...the jalapenos were almost pickled but still had that fresh crunch..bacon, lettuce and tomato as well as red onions..sooooo good! My son got a cheese burger kids dinner with fresh fruit. And my husband got a burger that looked SUUUPER good,.I don't remember what it was but it was a double and he was pleased. The cooks are superb! The service is always friendly and pretty fast and our waitresses are always top notch! Atmosphere is cozy and clean...bathrooms are clean. I realli enjoy this restaurant at this location, it's one of our top burger joints. Go there, you won't be disappointed!! Perfect example of how a restaurant should be...

Oh Fat Maddies! I used to love this place but unfortunately they have gone a bit down hill. Today I ordered the Cali chicken and a basket if fries and chicken strips. What I got was a kids meal 2 strips instead if 4. No kids soda. And fries next to my sandwich not the basket. The fries were severely underdone and inedible. They tasted like raw potatoes. The sandwich was good but a bit messy because of the amount of veggies vs meat ratio. It’s been a while since I came here and it may have to be a while again. Update: I took my son here he was visiting and loves their sandwich. When we ordered he said the cook touched raw chicken with his hands, put on the grill and then wiped his hands on this apron and touched the veggies. He works in food service industry and he said this risks cross contamination. He is right it does. Manager please talk to your staff about food safety and get your quality back up. Please we love...
