Maca Root Delivers Deliciously Gluten-Free!

As someone with Celiac disease, finding safe and delicious dining options while traveling can be a challenge. That's why discovering Maca Root in downtown Sandusky, Ohio, (a short drive from Cedar Point!) was an absolute game-changer. I've now had the pleasure of dining here twice, and both experiences were fantastic. Maca Root is a dedicated gluten-free establishment, which immediately put my mind at ease. This breakfast and brunch spot truly understands proper eating and provides an array of healthy, flavorful choices.

On my first visit, I enjoyed a breakfast wrap that was simply excellent. My second trip brought a delightful salad and avocado toast, equally impressive. Beyond their savory offerings, their dessert/protein balls are a must-try. I've sampled the peanut butter crunch, snickerdoodle, and peanut butter and chocolate varieties. While all three are amazing, the peanut butter crunch is definitely the standout!

The atmosphere at Maca Root is wonderfully cozy, and the staff, including the owner, are incredibly welcoming. It's clear they're passionate about providing healthy options without compromising on taste or experience.

I’ve been a long time customer, and what I recently realized about this place is the terrible quality of ingredients, incredibly small portions and outrageous prices.

Their burrito, which is the size of a small hand, like can be finished in 2 bites small, was just raised from $11 to $12. Which honestly I thought was fine because I thought they used quality ingredients when in fact I was able to see they use Kroger brand cheese beans corn etc. NOT ORGANIC. if they were organic and quality that would maybe justify the price and size but no.

All the sandwiches and toasts are literally so tiny you can eat them in 1 bite and they charge SO MUCH! Without even using quality organic ingredients to justify it!!! Shame!! I thought they at least used organic fruits and stuff but no, everything is just covered in glyphosate. Not health conscious at all. And incredibly expensive. VERY Disappointing. This was a welcome find on our cross country trip!! After being road weary from being in the car for three days and eating not so nutritious snacks along the way, we were all craving some fresh, healthy food. We ordered green bowls, immunity shots and avocado toast. The fruit toppings on the bowls were all fresh and yummy!! They were a little slow on the avocado toast and someone came out and immediately offered to remedy it and they even gave me a gift card as an apology.
