First visit was a home run! Food was fantastic! The drinks... not so much.
We ordered the rainbow trout, shrimp polenta, avocado chicken, lamb gyro and as an appetizer the feta and spinach dip with flat bread. All of the food was fantastic. I had the lamb gyro and my only complaint was that it was too small for $13. I could get one almost twice as big for less than $10 almost anywhere in Sandy Springs. So if I had any advice to give to Kid Cashew, would be to beef up the size of the gyro, even if it's just in a pita that's two inches larger. The flavor though was fantastic.
No complaints on the rainbow trout or the avocado chicken or shrimp polenta. I did not order a drink, I had sweet iced tea and noticed the first pour and the refill were left more than an inch below the rim of the glass... which I thought was a little odd.
Another in our party had a dirty martini and she stated it was "just okay." She's pretty picky but didn't send it back. Another in our party secretly ordered me a Moscow mule which I do not drink but to be nice I took a sip of it and it was awful. I don't like Moscow mule's but I know how they should taste and there was no ginger beer in it. It just tasted like sour mix. Luckily for Kid Cashew another member of our party took a sip and was willing to drink it so we didn't send it back.
The other member of our party then tried to secretly order me ANOTHER drink after having a convo with me about cocktails I liked and I mentioned how I make my own sour apple martini's at home. This gave them the bright idea to secretly order me an apple martini. I wasn't aware until it arrived at the table and it looked like... apple juice, amber in color. I again decided to be nice and took a tiny sip and it was AWFUL. I handed it to everyone else at the table and they all agreed it tasted terrible. It turns out the bartender admitted he either didn't know how or didn't have the proper ingredients for a sour apple martini and had used sweet vermouth, vodka and apple flavored liqueur. All it tasted like was sweet vermouth and vodka and even that tasted gross. Thankfully the staff were fine with taking it back and not charging us.
All in all drinks aside the visit was fun, the theme and décor were really interesting. My only complaint is it was VERY dark inside. At one point someone outside on the patio must have dialed up the hanging lights outside because suddenly it got a lot brighter (it was at night) and it was nice to see what I was eating. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars for the atmosphere. Other than that, no complaints and I do intend to return...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Kid Cashew in Sandy Springs, Atlanta, and I must say, it was an experience worth writing about.
Firstly, the ambiance at Kid Cashew is something special. The place has a warm, inviting vibe that makes you feel right at home. Whether you choose to sit inside or enjoy the outdoor seating, you're in for a treat with their decor - it's a perfect blend of modern and Mediterranean charm. The open dining area with its strategic mirrors expands the space visually, making it feel airy and open, while the big windows let in just the right amount of sunlight.
The menu at Kid Cashew is diverse and caters to a wide range of tastes, from vegans to carnivores. I was particularly impressed by the freshness of their ingredients; everything is made to order, ensuring you get the best quality. I started with their hummus which was simply divine, paired perfectly with their homemade pita.
For the main course, I tried the chicken avocado BLT, which was a delightful twist on the classic, and the mac and cheese was a surprise hit - served in a hot cast iron pan, it was the epitome of comfort food done right. The lamb burger, which I've had at many places, was phenomenal here; it's hands down one of the best I've tasted, with a flavor that's deep and satisfying.
The service at Kid Cashew was spot-on - attentive yet not overbearing, making the dining experience smooth. The staff’s knowledge of the menu helped in making informed choices, and their friendly disposition added to the overall positive experience.
Prices are quite reasonable considering the quality and portion size, making Kid Cashew not just a place for a special occasion but somewhere you'd want to return to often.
To cap off the meal, the chocolate dessert was heavenly, providing a sweet end to a fantastic meal.
Kid Cashew has definitely made a mark in Atlanta's dining scene, offering an experience that's both fun and delicious. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great food in a...
Read moreI wanted something fresh but packed with flavor for lunch while traveling through Atlanta and man this place DELIVERED!
From the second I pulled into the lot and smelled the wood fired grill, to the second the first appetizer hit the table, I knew I was in a good spot.
My wife and I shared two appetizers. The first being a Chilled Wood-Fired Beet dish with beets, pistachios, goat cheese, and mandarin oranges. The mix of smoke, cheese, nuts and acid from the orange was sensational. We also shared a Spicy Feta dip that had roasted jalepeño, Greek yogurt and Feta served with fresh hot pita bread. Man, oh man what a great choice! The spice of the jalepeño was balanced perfectly with the yogurt and cheese making for a dip I could not stop eating.
For lunch I had the Lamb Skewers (Cooked Medium). Trust me when I say just order these and don’t look back. They hit the spot for a lighter lunch while the wife got their lamb burger which was demolished in quick order.
The wife tried their “Big Fig Newton” cocktail with Woodford Reserve, muddled fig and rosemary. For a bourbon cocktail, it was light, bright and hit the spot on a warm fall afternoon.
This place will be a new staple in our traveling through, in or around Atlanta. The service was awesome and the outdoor seating is a must when it’s cool or there...
