I so badly wanted to love this place!

My family of 3 (me, husband & toddler) went a month or so after their grand opening. It took forever for us to place an order, including drink order. I know everything was new and probably extra busy since they were newly open. But after the long wait for our food, my husband and I got ours, they literally forgot my kidlets order. Most restaurants try to get kiddos food out first. The food was fine, nothing super exciting, but again, giving the benefit of the doubt.

My husband was ready to write it off, but I wanted to give them another shot.

Almost a year later, I finally was able to give then second chance.

They weren't busy at all, so I thought it was the perfect opportunity. It still took forever to place our order. However, my husband asked for a cup of ice and it took us asking 3 different times in at least a 45 minute span for the waitress to remember. My husband & I shared the baby sweats, and everything tasted like vinegar, and I didn't realize bbq sauce was extra that we had to order, the baked beans are more like chili, and the coleslaw had no dressing. We never got a refill of the warm water (the reason my husband asked for ice). I did like the tri tip on the platter, but for $50 I should have liked more than a couple small slices of steak. Which by the way, you don't get a receipt/bill, just a total owed at the end, so hopefully the bill is correct!

Sandbar gets 1 extra star for their epic cornbread. But 2 strikes...

The Arrival: Unassuming exterior. Gravel parking. Fantastic hostess, Sarah S. Let me say I like to throw around a little sass just for fun and this girl kept me on my toes and in my place. Absolute joy to be served by her, literally and figuratively.

The Place: Smaller than I assumed it would be but also extremely clean. Tables didn't have that... -feeling-. You know the one. Floors were clean, dishes and silverware all clean. Metal cups brought me back some good memories but I guess that's a personal thing. Nothing felt wrong with the design or decor but it also wasn't overbearing or outlandish. I guess it was just right? Maybe just a touch bland.

The Food: I got a TriTip sandwich and it was amazing. Meat was fantastic, bread open flame toasted. Grilled onions. My God... I don't know what they were trying to do to me with that food by im sure it's illegal in a couple states. Tried a bit of my groups food and everything was excellent. Everyone was pretty happy with what they got.

The Price: Honestly I felt fine paying what I did for everything. I didn't feel neglected as a patron, the quality of food was good, the cleanliness was better than most. The sandwich was a good portion and under $20 (for lunch). A drink and dessert for myself and take home to the wife with tip was just over $40.

Overall: Not much else to say other than I'll be back.

Last shout out to Sarah for making our first experience awesome....

First of all, for the folks that left a negative review because they couldn’t be seated (as those are the only negative reviews) please show some human decency and remove these reviews as you are not actually speaking to the quality of the food and service, but simply for your annoyance and lack of understanding. If you came to this place in the first 3 days of them being open and they weren’t able to serve you in person or over the phone, this is good news for the people that work here, this is their livelihoods and you need to step back and be human about this because you just sound like an inconsiderate complaney pants. Sandy needs good restaurants and we are excited to try it, as are many others, hence the crowds.

With that said, this is the best bbq we’ve ever had. And the guy next to us said the same thing and he called himself the sandy bbq guru. The staff was very sweet and responsive despite the busy turnout for it being the 3rd open day. The owner was jumping in and out of places he was needed and he’s very nice and personable. Cocktails very very good too and the bartender was so laid back and efficient even though the bar so full and demanding. Highly recommend all around, we will be...

First time patrons last night. First off, what is up with the seating? I have never been to a restaurant where the tables are SO CLOSE TOGETHER. I didn't even want to leave my table to use the restroom because if I did, I would have basically slid my body past our neighbors food. Photo below shows just how close the tables are together. Not only that, but you can literally hear every single conversation around in ever direction. Please bring Booths back. The vibe was strange. The bar tender was leaning on the counter just browsing on her phone most of the time we were there. The server was confused on menu. The bathroom door swings inward, so my view was the toilet and people exiting the restroom, which was off putting. The food is pretty good- the smash burger was tasty, the tri-tip street tacos were absolutely TINY for the price of like $14 (one taco shell each) but flavorful and the Chicken mushroom sandwich was really good!

This was my 4th trip to SandBar-love the food. We dined in instead of take-out because the previous time we were hit with a ridiculous take out fee without warning(I had brought cash for what the menu said). This time we looked over the menu priced it all out and opted for "the meat sweats" plate seemed like a good value at $65. With add-on sides and drinks we should of been under $90 but then Bill comes and it is $96 what happened? Well the menu pricing isn't current correct or complete. The staff is very nice so just be aware of this and ask for correct pricing if it is of concern.

We tried a variety of dishes and have nothing the great things to say. The mid size meat platter for 3-5 guests was big enough to share with a variety of meats except for the ribs which unfortunate are not sold before 4pm kids tried the Mac and cheese and burger and they were so good they finished the adult portion. Seasonal veggies were green beans today and they were perfectly seasoned. The only bad thing I can say is that my stomach couldn’t handle one more bite, but that’s okay those left overs will not go to waste. Service was quick and staff was welcoming, kind and friendly.
