For my money, this is probably the best spot in town to grab a little Japanese food and a beer! I have been 4x over the last several months and left beyond satisfied every time. The tuna tower is epic, and even if it doesn't look huge in the photo, once you mix everything up, it fills up the bowl it's served in and was quite filling (and tasted incredible)! The volcano roll was excellent, and I think my favorite thing on the whole menu is the chicken karaage, because you get an absolute MOUNTAIN of crispy on the outside, moist on the inside fried chicken served over rice with spicy mayo, and it's so good I've ordered it twice!
The dudes who run the show aren't the friendliest people I've ever encountered, but they're busy, so I never really let it bother me. All in all, the fact that you can get an amazing meal, served with a $4 pint of high quality craft beer, and enjoy it on their lovely patio make this a can't-miss stop if you're in the area, though, I wouldn't recommend going during peak dinner hours, because based on other reviews I've read, they tend to get overwhelmed by orders quickly, and they don't appear to handle the rush very well. Go when it's quiet and you are in...
Read moreLong story short, Sushi and Seoul at Celery City has undergone a slow decline to mediocrity.
When Sushi & Seoul first opened at Celery City, I worked to convince my friends that it was a worthy replacement for the already great Celery sandwich menu. Back then, I meant it, the food quality was outstanding.
Unfortunately, I can't say the same any more. Over time, they have increased the prices while the quality of the food has severely declined. The sushi rolls are now indistinguishable from pre-made supermarket sushi. The chicken karaage bowl is now over-battered, over-fried, dry husks of chicken on top of some rice. The decline in quality began a year ago and so I started to avoid them. Today, I gave them another shot, and it was still really bad. Either Sushi and Seoul needs to step up their game, or Celery City should bring back...
Read moreI've been here before in the past and got a simple bento box with a spicy tuna roll. But the day I went I decided to try something new and I'm so glad I did. I got a roll and an item called the "avocado tower" and I had no idea how big it was going to be. Massive "tower" of rice. Krab. Spicy tuna. And avocado with eel sauce and spicy Mayo topped all over. It was probably one of the most delicious things I've ever put in my mouth. I devoured both my roll and the tower despite it definitely being way too much food. Couldn't let it go to waste and sushi doesn't keep so swell after a few hours. Very unique little spot attached to a Bar. Tons of outdoor seating. Food is always extremely fresh and full of flavor. Just wish I didn't live so far away I would frequent here constantly. Highly recommend this little Gem in the historical...
