I went to this coffee shop since I recently moved to sanibel with my partner thinking it would be our new favorite spot.. I figured I’d rather spend money at a small business on Sanibel then the other places… I will start off with saying the lattes we ordered were fantastic. The customer service on the other hand was not. We weren’t greeted but Linda kept saying “I’ll be right with you I’ll be right with you” for about 5 minutes. Not a big deal I understand things happen. Although it wasn’t busy. She finally gets to us and asks what we would like I told her what I wanted and Linda said the grill closed 4 minutes ago and we missed the opportunity to have food 4 minutes ago. No biggie so I just said I’ll have avocado toast thinking the grill was for other food she rudely said while waving her hands around “we’re closed the grills closed” as if I was incompetent. So I just ordered the lattes. She told us our number and we sat down. A couple minutes later she yelled across the cafe and said “somebodies coffees are sitting here who’s coffee is this you ordered coffee” so I got up and grabbed it already frustrated since we were the only ones to have ordered coffee and was sitting right infront of her. . As I sat down I talked with my girlfriend about how we were being treated. Another couple walked in and her whole attitude changed she explained what they could have since the grill was closed and what she could do for them since there was no more cooking options available. She continued to offer options and talk about the food on days where they don’t close as well as their hours and what times they serve what. She offered wraps and bagels ect. We felt we were either being treated differently due the fact that we were gay. I don’t recommend this place and I will not be coming back due to the way Linda treats guests. It’s a shame since it’s such a cute atmosphere and they have unique latte options. I will not be recommending this place to friends, family or coworkers. I gave two stars because the lattes were great but unfortunately Linda’s customer service left more of a bitter taste in my mouth...
Read moreI had high hopes for this place. I didnt try my 'latte' till we had done left, so thats my fault, but it was completely undrinkable to the point of nauseating. Both mine and my husband's and we ordered from the menu nothing special. If there was coffee in it, and an extra shot like we paid for, you couldnt tell. They tasted like straight syrup and couldn't even taste the milk and it was beyond sweet. We had to pour them out. They gave us larges and we wanted smalls. We both got the sausage egg and cheese bagels and they were basic but edible. They come with 2 slices of orange. Also for 2 sandwiches and 2 lattes it was $43. My jaw dropped and I had to walk away but we were on a time crunch to get where we were heading and it was vacation right? And at that price you expect it to taste great. Ocean water wouldve been better than whatever we recieved. Atmosphere was really nice, loved the colors and local artist work for sale. Other than that I would recommend they don't sneak an upsell to tourist just because and maybe take a day to make your own drinks to taste test and adjust accordingly. I have never had such a terrible drink im sorry to say. People considering trying here, please take a drink before you leave so they have the chance to remake it and if thats not good then get your money back. We wasted $43 for half of it to be...
Read moreSanibel Bean used to be up there with Island Cow on my “Must do” list in Sanibel. I’ve been coming here for many years and I’m sad to report that Sanibel Bean appears to be just a shadow of its former self. I knew something was wrong when I got there too close to 2pm (closing time) and an employee about tripped over themselves to flip the sign to “Closed” about 10ft from my face. Classy.
Gone are the helpful, exuberant employees who were bursting with coffee knowledge and enthusiasm. The new crew does not want you there and just wishes you would leave. My drink of choice was always a blended mocha, but now they’re a massive one-size-only diabetes bomb. Those delicious fresh coffee bean notes are missing - it’s just a run of the mill Frappuccino at best. We also ordered 2 ice-creams and it was just slopped in a plastic drink cup - each cup having wildly different amounts of ice cream.
We also tried a banana strawberry smoothie - and that was actually very good. All I can speak to is my experience the 3 days I was here (and I came every day). Maybe it was just bad luck, but Im afraid it’s time to look elsewhere for coffee in Sanibel for this faithful...
