The staff at The Blue Giraffe are so nice! Not only did I have a great meal, but they helped me out tremendously! I was taking a few days vacation in Captiva, and had ridden my rented bike from Captiva to the restaurant. About 9 or so miles. After I was done with my visit at Periwinkle Place (where the Blue Giraffe is) I looked in my back pocket where the bike lock key had been, and nothing. The bike lock key was gone! I started to panic... 9 miles back to Captiva, and the bike was locked. I had locked it up really well as it wasn’t mine, andI have had bikes stolen before. So, I called Yolo Watersports and they were very nice about it as well, and would send out a mechanic with bolt cutters. But, they said see if you can find any bolt cutters over there first. I have worked in many restaurants and I remembered that sometimes restaurants need some tools for different tasks. I asked the guys if they had any bolt cutters, and lo and behold.., they did have a cutting tool! My hero diligently worked at cutting through the lock, and slowly but surely the tool went through the lock! Not only did he get through the lock but I made it back to Captiva in time to make my 4:30 pm Captiva cruise:0) I would have gone around and given them all hugs if it wasn’t COVID. Forever appreciative of your kindness. I hope to be back again!:0)

Read moreI rarely write reviews for restaurants but the food here was bad enough I am taking the time to do it. I am giving the restaurant 2 stars because the service was friendly and fast. This did not make up for the truly horrible food we were served or the high price we paid for it. Our bill came to $115 for a family of five, which is a reasonable price for high-quality food. I had an appetizer of the crab cakes - it was almost inedible. Frozen seafood waaaaay over fried. It was like eating a bad frozen fish stick. Coconut battered shrimp for the entree - again waaay over-fried, dry and not made with fresh ingredients. My son's macaroni and cheese was Kraft, my other son's hamburger was dry and cold, and my daughter's pasta was cooked penne in a jarred sauce. My wife's cobb salad greens were withered and the chicken in it had obviously been stored with fish as the whole thing tasted like spoiled seafood. This is a meal I could have purchased at a supermarket and made at home for $20.00. It was really, really bad. If you are visiting Sanibel, consider eating elsewhere. The restaurant was clean, service was good, staff was friendly and helpful...the food is atrocious and way...
