This place is a local favorite for sure. Not only is the food great and quality reliable, but the excellent customer service won’t allow you to regret spending your time or money here! Mars is a dream cashier that every eager consumer hopes to encounter in their experience with food service. I’ve had a super rough week and I was greeted with very much appreciated optimism and cheerfulness upon approaching the counter to order. I felt heard and appreciated in my mere existence as a customer. The food tasted great and was complimented tremendously by excellent customer service. Thank you, Mars. Many places in Santa Barbara are serviced by young college kids with poor work ethic. However, not what I’ve found here. Clearly, South Coast Deli values its place among the community and its workers. Specifics and clarity when ordering will ensure you receive what you expect. Was doing the LA-SF PCH journey back in 2019 when we stopped at Santa Barbara for some sightseeing. Being about lunch time we found this place through the map and thought of giving it a go. First of all the person at the counter realized we were tourists and instantly asked us if we needed help with ordering. After going back and forth with the menu we order 3 chicken subs/sandwiches. Sadly I do not remember the exact items we ordered but it was all chicken sandwiches/subs. Not only was it freshly made but even now nearly 2 years later we still remember the flavors.

Despite being 8000 miles away from this place we still wish we could come and have the sandwich/sub. More than the sightseeing those sandwiches/subs are what we remember from Santa Barbara! Do you people do international delivery by any chance since we'd love to...

Had the weirdest phone call trying to order a breakfast sandwich here (because you cannot order breakfast online).

Me: Hi there! Are you still serving breakfast? SC: Til 11. Me: Great! Can I order a basic egg sammie on a croissant? SC: We don't have croisssants.

(the website describes this sandwich as: scrambled eggs with choice of cheddar, jack, provolone, or swiss cheese on choice of bagel, croissant, or toast. Oh well, maybe they're out.)

Me: Okay, how about on an everything bagel. And what type of meats do you have? SC: What kind do you want? Me: Sausage. SC: We don't have sausage. (Then why ask what I want? Just tell me what you have.) SC: We have bacon, turkey, or ham.

Me: Nevermind.

The food is fine, but what a weird way to try and buy a breakfast sandwich- no way to order online, and a guessing game...
