I had a wonderful dinner with my brother visiting from.... My, now late wife, used to go here when we first started dating and went on our wedding anniversaries here after and it was always great in every aspect. I love to sit and eat by koi water feature. It is always relaxing. Before, during and after the meal, the employees kept busy cleaning, straightening and making sure we had everything we needed. Yes, we were the only ones in the restaurant, but that is OK because the employees never stopped working and it showed In the quality of the experience. Just like all of the times in the past. I know it sounds corny, but my wife let me know she was present with me in spirit by turning on the ambient music just as I was mentioning to my brother, "I seem to remember music playing when I have been here in the past." When suddenly it started playing. And this was just after a kinda long awkward silence at the table. It's what made me say something about it. I'm just saying.......? Thank you for the great experience, again. In my opinion, don't change a thing. Although, if our visit was indicative of how many customers are not coming in, I hope that changes for you, so you can continue to provide a great, well rounded and memorable experience in dining quality. Something that is truly hard to find, to that degree, in a restaurant...
Read moreI’ve been there a few times, and I have never been disappointed.
Although the food seems a tad pricey, it’s actually pretty reasonable compared to other japanese restaurants. Also, they have really good discounts for quality meals ($3.99 for a plate of salmon!), and the staff are also extremely nice. Even though I noticed there were only about one or two waitresses, the service was still relatively fast.
My friends and I ordered teriyaki chicken bentos (which were really good, and only $5.99), and a tempura mix (about $9, which is a little pricey, but I’ve seen worse).
Lastly, I’m giving 5 stars because I really like the environment I was eating in. There was a small pond right next to my table, with real fish swimming in it, which was really cool. The japanese art and tapestries were a great addition to the restaurant, and made the overall ambiance more peaceful (but I would say no the LED lights). There was enough light, but not so much it was too bright and ruined the feel of the restaurant.
I applaud the restaurant for putting so much thought into their food and restaurant environment, and recommend it as a great place for a nice, inexpensive meal for anyone...
Read moreSaturday evening dinner. Place was very empty, so it was nice and quiet and you could really enjoy the "garden" atmosphere. My friends and I, three of us total, sat at the sushi boat bar, and we were the only ones there for at least half an hour. It was our first time there. Unfortunately, the sushi boats contained 95+% rolls featuring mayonnaisey / imitation krab salad, and that was a huge disappointment. After finding only one plate containing real fish, I resorted to having to place an order for nigiri of maguro, hamachi, and saba. Unfortunately no toro, which I find to be the norm in the south bay :-( The nigiri was excellent! The hamachi was the best. Finally, the chef put out three dishes of sake nigiri on the boats. By this time, there were two other parties also sitting at the bar. I took one of the sake, then as the boats came around a third and fifth time and no one touched the other two, I took them at the third and fifth go round, respectively. Again, the nigiri was delicious. I would have given a higher rating if the boat bar had a much higher percentage of traditional sushi than the 95+% of mayonnaisey / imitation krab salad dishes...
