I am a former long time SCV resident, US Army vet and retired Law Enforcement Sergeant who suffers many work related disabitlies. Mabels used to be a go to for us back in the day. I have a service dog named Penny who helps me to cope when certain issues arrise. I Brought Penny to Docs inn, yesterday and earlier today, where she was welcomed and excepted by everybody. I left Docs to see my favorite bartender at Salr Creek, just to say hi, and Penny was welcomed with open arms and praised for her excellent training. I was back in town today to bury an old Law enforcement partner, on my birthday no less. I was feeling nostalgic and wanted to visit one of my old stomping grounds, Mabel's Roadhouse. When I got there, I politely requested my service dog be allowed to escort me to have a much need beer. The women at the door, said she's the bartender and starts questioning about my dogs value as a service dog. I recently started using a slip lead to train Penny because she surpassed more invasive methods of training. I'm not sure how but Penny got off the lead and the employee grabbed her collar shaking her neck and started yelling at me about leash laws, saying she worked at the shelter and knows all the rules. I told her to release my dog before my dog gets hurt so I could leave. I'm still not sure how someone could be so cruel. I won't be back at Mabels....ever. my service dog pictured below.

Went in alone in the afternoon. Regulars, about 4 or 5 of em. Bartender was cool. No issues but my sense was if you weren't a reg, at least at 2pm on a weekday, you haven't earned your stripes to talk as part of the group. I was quickly shuffled as more people came in so I bailed. Unfriendly isn't complete hyperbole. They weren't rude, just "you ain't one of us". May be a different experience at different times but I did not feel welcome in my time.

Great place for some reasonable priced adult beverage refreshments and dance the night away.

Good dive bar. But I have one complaint about the service. There's a bartender there with a bad attitude. She clearly doesn't even acknowledge the patrons that go there and spend lots of money to get some friendly service but this girl has a bad attitude. She must hate her job or simply doesn't care. She wasn't rude to me because I felt that energy she was discharging. But I noticed she was very rude to this girl that had been standing there for over 15 mins to be acknowledged by her. When the bartender was done making drinks she directed her attention towards a man that had been there only 2 mins of his arrival and when the girl that had been there waiting to order drinks for 15 mins told the bartender that she had been waiting for over 15 mins the bartender replied to her by clearly putting her hand up in the customer's face and said " PAUSE". I've never seen such a disrespect towards a guest. Me being in the same industry wouldn't allow my employees treat a...

This place has a lot going for it. I went one time before and had some fun. Here is the problem: I went to order a drink and it took forever to get my order. Even people that came after me got their order before me. If I get good service, I leave a tip. I didn’t leave a tip for one specific bartender that skipped over me a few times (FYI I left a tip for previous bartenders that night). Out of the three people working that night, she was the older redhead lady with tattoos. Long story short, she ended up getting extremely mad at me because I didn’t leave a tip for her. She proceeded to try to embarrass me in front of my friends. Extremely unprofessional of her. You cannot act like that for not receiving a tip. The younger guy working that night preformed phenomenally which is why I tipped...
