My wife has fantasies about her first Mendocino Farms experiences at the Sherman Oaks location we used to live closer too...so when we learned a location was coming up here to the Santa Clarita Valley, it was almost as if we had arrived at the utopian world yet to come.
We've eaten here three times now (2 dine in and 1 delivery) and although it has all the familiar things we know from the other locations, our overall impression is that it's slightly off in terms of brand standards in what we've received. In particular, my wife feels there's something off with the salads, the ratio of types of lettuce, how it's cut, etc., compared to what she remembers. The first time she ordered it without onions and it came with what seemed like extra onions which she had to pick out. The first time I wanted to order the Impossible Taco salad and they were out of the Impossible Meat and so I had to pick something else. I wanted to try the vegetarian mushroom cheesesteak style sandwich (a seasonal item which isn't still on the menu) - I'm not vegan and asked them to make it with real cheese instead of the vegan...they said they couldn't do that, but then a friend of mine said they ordered it that way and it wasn't a problem.
Perhaps all these issues are just artifacts of it being a new location and they're still getting up to speed?
My son and I both have enjoyed the Vegan banh Mi. We really like the drink options, and overall we're happy to have a healthier place that has multiple good vegetarian options. So we're not giving up on it...My wife has decided she wants to get the Superfood Salad at this location, and the Sherman Oaks location just so she can do a comparison of what she remembers, and what we're getting locally. We'll let you know...
Read moreI’ve been eating at Mendocino Farms for years. We order take out and delivery for company meetings on a regular basis in LA and OC. I placed a take out order in person today at the Valencia store at 10:30am for a 1:00pm delivery 2 miles from the restaurant. The manager told me I had missed the cut-off for delivery but since it was only a 10 person order he could take the order and deliver it himself. I appreciated the gesture and tipped $75 to show my appreciation. After waiting for an hour past delivery time I called the manager. He told me there was a mix-up and he would get it delivered and then call me to “make it right”. Eventually the food was delivered but several people had to leave and the order delivered was different than what we ordered. Half the food was wasted from so many people having to leave and I looked bad to the group. The manager never called back to “make it right”. I submitted feedback through the Mendocino website. I received a call from the store manager a few days later who said he was going to issue a refund and provide some type of credit for future catering but he didn’t follow through. This now seams to be the typical story where a great restaurant chain grows and loses quality and service the bigger they get. 6 weeks, 12 emails, several phone calls and voicemails and even filed a dispute with my credit card company. I will never order catering from Mendocino...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Mendocino Farms in Valencia California recently, and the experience was made truly exceptional thanks to Angel M. From the moment I walked in, Angel greeted me with a warm smile and genuine enthusiasm that set the tone for my lunch.
Angel’s attention to detail and commitment to ensuring a great experience was evident throughout my visit. He took the time to answer my questions about the menu, offered thoughtful recommendations based on my preferences, and checked in to make sure everything was good.
What really stood out was Angel’s ability to balance professionalism with a friendly, personable approach. It felt like he genuinely cared about my dining experience, which is rare and so appreciated.
The food at Mendocino Farms was, as always, delicious, but Angel’s excellent service truly made this visit memorable. I’ll definitely be returning soon, and I hope to see Angel again. Thank you for going...
