This was a last minute stop on a visit to Santa Fe. While looking on Google for places that had indian fry bread this place came up.

I found out that a lot of places in New Mexico use fry bread and sopapillas interchangeably. The sopapillas here were large, thick, and they only brought one per person at the table.

Prices here were a bit high, not sure if its because this is considered one of the higher end Mexican restaurants in Santa Fe, or if this is really more of a touristy spot near the downtown area.

I ordered the enchilada plate with rice and beans. Another thing I learned while here was "Christmas Style" is what they call plates with both red and green sauce. I had seen it advertised other places but hadn't connected the dots until I asked for one red and one green, and the waiter replied "Christmas style".

Another interesting thing here was an item labeled "Soupy Beans" which I had never seen before. I started to ask about it. There was even a huge pot in the kitchen with a sign that said "Soupy Beans". I figured they were borracho beans, but apparently they are something else.

Our food came out fairly quick, portions were decently large. Prices were a bit on the high side, but we were eating out late, while trying to hit the road and continue our trip to the next town several hours away. The food had decent flavor. Im from San Antonio where there's a Mexican restaurant on every corner, so for someone from up north, this food would probably be amazing. I would consider it a mix of authentic Mexican, Tex-mex, and Santa Fe style food. The menu was really an eclectic...

The staff is friendly and attentive. The ambiance is authentic as I can imagine. The art work, the background music is not contemporary and classic.

I must say that I tried the "Green Chili" here in New Mexico (visiting from California) and the "Green Chili" there is a different concept and preparation. WOW!!! NM Green Chili is bold, spicy when it hit my taste buds.

Starting off with an Appetizer (a cup of Green Chili Stew). Right away, I knew Maria's cuts that tender soft pork pieces was plentiful. I mean, all over the cup which also had pieces of potato, onion and tomato. The pieces of pork were big in comparison. The main dish was Beef & Been & Cheese smothered in Green Chili sauce (not the same sauce from the Green Chili Stew).....

Both dishes came with complimentary "Fried Bread". I wondered at first when I was seated at the table were a set of condiments (sugar, salt & pepper shakers and the odd-man-out - Honey). Well, I thought about that bread in front of me and said to myself, this. Honey must be for the bread. My server, so attentive mentioned the Fried Bread was complimentary and is usually eaten as a dessert. Messy but delicious....YUM!!!!!

Other staff members would swing by my table to ask if I needed anything else. That is great. My needs were fulfilled. In speaking with other staff members, I inquired about Military discount honors. Assured by the many staff members this is the case.

I give a 5 stars rating and with 17 Million viewer, I can't be wrong. Thank you so much for honoring Military and Veterans for your great...

Made the drive from Albuquerque to check this place out after a friend recommended it. The food was decent—came out very fast, which was nice. It could’ve used a little salt, but not really an issue. I just added some at the table. The chile had good flavor without being too hot, and the chips and salsa were great.

Now for the not-so-great part: the service. Our server was rude from the start. He took my partner’s drink order but walked away while I was in the middle of giving mine. When he came back to take our food order, he barely engaged—just asked, “You ready yet?” like we were wasting his time. I ordered my meal and a Diet Coke. He acknowledged it but never brought the drink. When the food arrived, I had to ask again. Took a few minutes, but he had no problem sitting down at a table with a young woman, chatting instead of doing his job.

On top of that, every time he dropped something off at the table, we said thank you, and he never once acknowledged it. No “you’re welcome,” no nod, nothing. Just silence or he’d walk away.

The food wasn’t bad, but the service was enough to ruin the experience. There are plenty of great spots in Santa Fe where you don’t have to deal with that kind of attitude—no reason to...

Last nights dinner was fantastic. I got to Maria’s and I was blown away by all cars in the parking lot. I was very luck to find a parking spot quickly at my secret spot. I got in and sat and wait for my party. Turns out there was another tall blond gal that overheard me talking to the hostess about my party. The tall blond gal asked me if my name was John. I was like, “no John here”. My friend texts me and tells me that the tall blond girl is part of our party. It was a dinner of six strangers. What a blast. We all ordered one of Santa Fe’s favorite drinks, the Silver Coin Margarita because Los Foodies Magazine has a recipe that ranks number one on Google search results. The drink was outstanding. I know what I wanted for dinner. I had the lovely Chicken Tostadas Compuestas con Pollo. 2 flat, crispy corn tortillas, filled with chicken, cheese and guacamole, served with a side of pico de gallo. It was it off this world. I guess because I hadn’t eaten at Maria’s in a while. I cannot wait to go back!
