We were so excited to try this place. I grew up with a celiac mom and sister and married a guy with severe gluten intolerance, so any time I can give them a good meal that includes bread they can have, itās really special. I saw the glowing reviews of this place and planned our trip to Santa Fe so we could get in a meal here and grab some bread to take home. I waited outside the building the bakery is in with our two dogs and my husband went in with my order from their online menu. He called almost immediately to let me know they were out of BLTs. It was 11:45, the lunch rush hadnāt even hit. I then chose the Italian, they were out of that too. He then said all they have is turkey pesto. So we got two turkey pestos. When he came out of the building, I could tell something was wrong. He then said the person working the counter shot daggers at him as soon as he walked in, had their earbuds in and were extremely short with him (before he called me to let me know they were out of so muchāsee the vitriolic reply to his review where they tell him he deserves gas station food). I have gutted through eating four decades of gluten-free bread. Some is amazing, most is okay, some is awful. The bread on this sandwich was gritty to the point of almost being sandy in texture and didnāt hold together like sandwich bread should. As a bakery, I was shocked that they didnāt offer a choice of bread for their sandwiches, but when my husband pulled out these pre-made sandwiches that are packaged exactly like you get at a gas station, I was beyond disappointed in this place. Maybe they have awesome baked goods, we will never know because this was such a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery disappointing. I am visiting from out of town and made a special trip with my hosts to check out this bakery. We ordered a cinnamon roll, muffin, and scone. They were quite small and about $5 each. I tried to order a decaf coffee but this was unavailable, even as an Americano. I asked about tea and the employee pulled out two beat up boxes of random Stash herbal teas. No thanks. We sat down at the little food court area outside and got excited to dive in. My first bite (of the muffin, which was way too sweet and more of a cupcake) my teeth sunk in to lightly toasted dough. I asked my friend how her scone was. āDoughy.ā Not of the items we bought were baked through. We peeled off the outer crust of each item to eat and discussed whether to just throw away the rest of our expensive breakfast. We instead ordered food at a different establishment and decided to take our ābakedā goods home to try to bake them ourselves. Not sure if there was a substitute baker in today or what, but definitely would not return...
